The first big deal of the trading season...this is a massive shift for PIT. It also probably gets the Pens into the post season.

Smart move by Bob Murray as well.

PS - Anaheim - trade Nediermayer - NOW! Do NOT trade Pronger. Whitney is soft as butter.

Kunitz instantly becomes a sure-fire 60-70 point per season kind of guy. He'll be playing with either Malkin or Crosby for the next few years.

Kunitz brings what PIT lost in Malone, and then some. He's a significant upgrade on Fedetenko and Satan, in my mind anyway.

Still, yeah, I'm kind of jealous of ANA. If OTT could have got Whitney for, say, Vermette and a middling prospect, I would have been very interested. And I've long been of the "let's not trade Vermette" camp.

The Pens needed a quick fix upfront. Bob Murray could afford to let Kunitz go because Bobby Ryan has played so well, and he is rebuilding the Ducks' D.

I don't know that it's a good deal for Pittsburgh in the long run though.

I'll give Pit initial win in this trade, hands down. Advantage may shift to Anaheim later on down the road

The only thing I like about the trade Tangradi.

I'm not in love with Kunitz.

Mind you, we should take this opportunity to give Bryan Murray a quick shout out for finding Kunitz out of uni.
