Even with Alfie wearing the extra gear, they couldn't trounce a woeful Habs squad?! Jesus, maybe I was right, they are tuning out Clouston already...

Dude, Spezza and Heatley are absolute coach killers.

Massive, massive exaggeration.

The only guy I think you can say they had a role in "killing" was Hartsburg, and I think we all agree that it was his system that did him in.

I haven't cued up the game today yet and I'm seriously debating the notion of not watching it at all.

It seems fair to assume that we are still in the Hedman sweeps, although Murray's latest move seems to indicate (to me anyway) that he has more coming...

We are very much there. The #1 will be Tavares (who, by the way, I really wonder about -- is he too slow for the NHL?); we are currently (if Toronto keeps their lead) 4th, and have pretty good odds of getting #2.

I saw the London Knights play here and honestly (at least that afternoon) he wasn't the best player on his team IMO. Nazem Kadri is a treat to watch.

Kadri to me is a bit like (a better) Mike Comrie though.

When he's on his game, he's brilliant, but if he struggles he reverts to trying to toe-drag and deke too often. He's not very good (from what I've seen) at simplifying his game.

Fair enough. I haven't seen him enough for a long term eval. With the right coaching you can work that out of him. Just ask Spezza... oh whoops.

j/k I do like Spezza deep down. Some nights it is just deeper than others.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kadri would be a nice pick-up for the team, and although I don't want to be politically incorrect I think that Ottawa is a great market for a Lebanese player.

That said, there are a few prospects I would rather have (Hedman, Tavares, Duchene, MSP, Cowen, Schenn, Kane, perhaps Schroeder, Glennie and Despres...).

Maybe Murray has a deal in place for Vancouvers 1st and Hodgson for Heatley.... ah to dream.

Is there any chance the Islanders would trade the 1st overall for Spezza?

Why would they? Tavares would be on a rookie contract.

And why would we? Spezza is proven, Tavares is not.

That would be the Ultimate Manifestation of Hockey Karma.

Jason Spezza, who 'originated' in a trade between the Isles and Sens, returning to 'the source'...

What has Spezza proven? seriously... what has he ever accomplished? He is looking like a 7 million dollar bust at this point. At 4.5 he was great, sure, 7 million for 7 years, no thanks.

Tell me what Spezza has accomplished in his hall of fame worthy career thus far?

He is a PPG guy.... now im struggling. Pierre Turgeon jr.

More than anything, Spezza is just really annoying to watch - so much talent, so little heart. I'm just tired of seeing his detrimental influence weighing down my team.

Pierre Turgeon played some pretty good hockey for the Islanders.

Maybe Jason would do well there.

Ah, back to the old "put words in my mouth" strategy, eh.

Spezza has proven to be more than a PPG guy. Spezza has proven to be one of the most productive forwards in the league. Basically, what Spezza has accomplished is around Tavares' potential, except replace some of the assists with goals.

Remember, up until this season Spezza has been scoring at a 100+ point rate for every season post-lock-out. And as a 19 year old, he began his very good post-season career by single-handedly winning game 5 of the NJ-Ottawa ECF, and then at 20 put up almost 60 points on the third line.

If you actually are incapable of admitting that Spezza has proven himself at the NHL level, then I'm no longer going to bother arguing with you about him.

Well that's true, but then our forward corps would be absolutely dreadful going forward.

We'd have two aging great forwards and two young great d-men.

Hard to build a team around that, unless you're suggesting that we try for Hall next season.

Basically, his career is going down a very wrong path at this point. He wont be the first guy with that much tallent to be a PPG player that never wins anything.

From here on out, Spezza is known as Pierre Turgeon. A guy who puts up points and does nothing else to help his team!

Spezza is second on our team behind only Alfredsson in terms of take-aways and has been phenomenal in terms of winning face-offs.

How do you know that if a guy like Vermette isnt given a chance to be the number 1 center he cant be just as effective? How do you know that a more resposnible guy playing those big mins, this team wouldnt be better.

Saying our offense would be none exsistant without Spezza isnt true, because its none exsistant with Spezza. If someone else had the opportunities Spezza has had, who knows what could happen.

As tallented as Spezza is, the team will be able to play without him there, and hopefully it happens.
