Neely4Life wrote:Elliott is NHL ready for sure, I have no doubt, but pulling him to get the team going is going to kill his confidence eventually. If thats the only tatic Clouston has to get his team going, send him back down and bring Gerber in. Elliott is here to play, thats it, good or bad. If he gets lit up, he gets lit up, but lets stop singling the goalie out just because Clouston's team isnt ready to play.

4 of the last 5 this team has come out extremely slow out of the gate. Thats on Clouston, and if he cant change that, and 3 other coaches couldnt change that, change the players.

If they want to send Elliott down, thats fine, but there is nothing for him to learn in the AHL. Giving teams 3 goal leads every game because your team isnt ready to play reflects badly apon everyone in that organization. But hey, we got 47 shots that didnt matter. Heatley and Spezza, 2 points each, congrats! At least your stats look better at the end of the day then your goalies.

2000th post congrats. But I am not sure that I agree 100%. I think he is NHL ready but he is not NHL starting goalie ready IMO. He could use some time learning the shooters, getting some experience with the club and in a perfect world, learning from a high quality number one. We just don't seem to have that luxury though...

Tank Nation rejoice. Sens lose, Leafs are winning. Buffalo is pulling away, leading 3-0 against the Rangers, who face Toronto tomorrow (two tired teams, I smell a 3-point game). Maybe Boston will have their hands full with Florida tonight and be tired enough to give away at least one point to Tampa Bay tomorrow.

I'm still not part of Tank Nation, but I've reconciled myself with what looks to be the inevitable. First year without Redden is their first year out of the playoffs. Darn it, I wish they missed last year.

You are not suggesting there is a corelation between the two?

same here Wprager.
I haven't cued up the game today yet and I'm seriously debating the notion of not watching it at all.

It seems fair to assume that we are still in the Hedman sweeps, although Murray's latest move seems to indicate (to me anyway) that he has more coming...

Wow, I didnt even realize I had 2000 posts... but ya, Elliott has tons to learn, might as well learn it now and next year while the team is learning too.

100% it would help Elliott being the backup getting 30-35 starts before throiwing him into the number 1 role, but we dont really have a choice. I dont know what they should do with this team, I just know certain players are not going to change their ways because they refuse to alter their game for the team.

Alfi comes back and magically Spezza at Heatley produce as well.... funny that. They should seriously just let Alfi sit out the year, he doesnt need to risk further injury for those goofs.

Congrats on the 2K, N4L. You snuck up on me in the last few days. If only Spezza had played better of that stretch, you'd still be around 1700 Smile

It's the comparison I did not want to invite. Would have been better if they missed out in his last year here.

We are very much there. The #1 will be Tavares (who, by the way, I really wonder about -- is he too slow for the NHL?); we are currently (if Toronto keeps their lead) 4th, and have pretty good odds of getting #2.

In unrelated news 'grass' sales are down substantially...

yeah, I agree.
Even with Alfie wearing the extra gear, they couldn't trounce a woeful Habs squad?! Jesus, maybe I was right, they are tuning out Clouston already...

I saw the London Knights play here and honestly (at least that afternoon) he wasn't the best player on his team IMO. Nazem Kadri is a treat to watch.

Actually, some speculate the Isles are looking very seriously at Victor Hedman.

I still think they'll take JT, but I don't think it's the slam dunk people think it is.

Dude, Spezza and Heatley are absolute coach killers. It took a media frenzy for Heatley to get going just to shut everyone up. Spezza, well, maybe he should only dress for 41 games a year, because he is useless for 1/2 the games he plays in. But I guess you cant rack up useless points when the game is already over from the stands.

Man, I feel bad for guys like Fisher, Alfi, Smith, A train. Also guys like Bell, Vermette, and Kelly who do everything they are asked to do, and get harped on for not producing. Its not their job to produce at a PPG pace or anywhere near it. The role players get no credit when the team doesnt win, because it goes un-noticed.

Just get rid of the two goofs on the big line and lets move on. Our D wont be ready for a few years anyways to really compete on an elite level, same with our goalie. Offense comes a lot quicker than the other two.

Kadri to me is a bit like (a better) Mike Comrie though.

When he's on his game, he's brilliant, but if he struggles he reverts to trying to toe-drag and deke too often. He's not very good (from what I've seen) at simplifying his game.

Massive, massive exaggeration.

The only guy I think you can say they had a role in "killing" was Hartsburg, and I think we all agree that it was his system that did him in.

Fair enough. I haven't seen him enough for a long term eval. With the right coaching you can work that out of him. Just ask Spezza... oh whoops.

j/k I do like Spezza deep down. Some nights it is just deeper than others.

Don't get me wrong, I think Kadri would be a nice pick-up for the team, and although I don't want to be politically incorrect I think that Ottawa is a great market for a Lebanese player.

That said, there are a few prospects I would rather have (Hedman, Tavares, Duchene, MSP, Cowen, Schenn, Kane, perhaps Schroeder, Glennie and Despres...).
