Here is a truly scary postgame quote, from Allen Panzeri's Canwest News Service wire story tonight:

Columbus defenceman Jan Hejda, who was on the ice often against Ottawa's big line of Heatley, Jason Spezza, and Daniel Alfredsson, said what many Ottawa fans are probably thinking this morning.
"They didn't play like we saw on TV (against St. Louis)," he said. "Especially Spezza. He dumped the puck in three or four times. It seemed like they didn't want to play.
"Maybe for those guys the season's done."

HAHAHAHA, Sens get ZERO respect, NONE. Its actually satisfying.

How about the coments from the guys:

"It's disappointing we weren't able to do anything offensively," said Ottawa defenceman Chris Phillips. "We had a few power plays. The ability to capitalize could be the difference in a game.

"It was an opportunity to get on a roll, a chance to take advantage of (the win over St. Louis). We didn't do it."

What scares me more is they seem to try to win hockey games, relying on "momentum", "luck", or a bad goalie performance from the other team...

then the coach:

This is a team you're not going to get many chances against. What it comes down to is that you've got to score on your chances."

How about you give the hungry and kids more ice time to begin with?

Marakh, it's called 'collective denial'.

I don't know if you saw my post earlier today where I pasted the link to Carey Price's f-word laced post game comments. I'm not a Habs fan by any means, but I respected Price's anger at a pathetic performance by himself and his team.

The vanilla pudding that the Sens serve up post game basically shows that the CBJs' Jan Hejda nailed it.

More post game quotes from both teams show the contrast in attitude. No gratuitous attaboys from Hitch, by the way, even though his team won.

Problem is, the fans and management fell in love with Heatley and Spezza after career years. They got big contracts and have come back to Earth a bit.

I think the embarassment of this season may be what Spezza and Heatley need to raise their games every night. I hope they both get snubbed by Team Canada during the Worlds in April. Maybe that message will get through.

And fire Hartsburg already. This clown addresses inconsistency by not allowing anyone to have consistent linemates. Idiot.

I swear to you Greg Carvel is listening to an IPod.

18 miserable shots? That's it? I was actually worried that Elliott might spark this team, but apparently they don't care about anything or anyone.

It's time. This thing needs to be blown up massively. They are circling the bowl.

I'm all for a giant firesale at the deadline and into the offseason. Make an offer. Anyone except Winchester, Volchenkov, Lee, and Alfie can be had for the right price. Fire Murray and Hartsburg in the offseason. Find a way to pry David Poile out of Nashville and bring in an entirely new coaching staff. Luke Richardson would make a nice associate coach.

I'd rather watch a young inexperienced team lose than watch this Dung.

Hem, BTW did you see Geno's goal against the Devs tonight? Good effort by the Pingu Posse...but the LouLams are showing why they are, along with the Brewin's, the monsters of the East...

Geez, what do you think Hitch could do with JaySpez?

I'll defend him when he plays well, but I haven't felt the urge since before the all star break. He was just awful tonight, I don't understand how he can be such an impact player at times and then this lackluster turnover machine the rest of the time. it's like I'm watching two different players. The crucial difference is one is Diddle retarded and still makes $7M.

Here's what Hitch said about JaySpez (from Sportsnet):

The Columbus coach became a fan of Jason Spezza's when he worked with him at last year's world championships. "I really liked coaching him," said 'Hitch'. "He was kind of out there at the start of the tournament, he was doing his dingling dangling whatever, 1-on-5 stuff. Then we had a chat and it just (turned) 360. He was really, really good the last four games, and when it was down to sudden-death games, he was really good. He was dependable, he was really competitive, he was heavy on the puck, he was really efficient." The Jackets' bench boss said he's not qualified to comment on the star centre's play this season, because he hasn't watched Ottawa play more than five times this season. "To me, I don't look at how many times a player turns the puck over, I look at how many times he's weak on the puck."

Ken thinks Jason would be a fit as a Jacket. (pun intended) Wink

Frankly, coached by Hitch, as a centre for Rick Nash? Awesome combination.

He has a 50 goal guy beside him now... Nash hasnt come close to 50, why would things be any different?

Until Spezza actually learns how to play with consistancy and a few other things, he is, and always will be the guy that no one can count on or wants on their team.

His time in Ottawa is coming to an end, personally I couldnt be happier. If and when he does get dealt I hope Heatley is so outraged he demands a trade as well. Here's hoping!

Nash is a completely different player (and much better all around) than Heatley. Heatley's a one dimensional player, and he's very good at it. Nash, however, is a two-way player, great at both ends. This is a rookie Rocket Richard co-winner who has played on a mediocre team for his entire 6 year NHL career, and he is only now finally close to seeing the playoffs. Nash with a true #1 like Spezza (yes critics, he is a #1) and Columbus could be even better. Spezza's got great offensive instincts and vision. He can score 30 while adding as many as 90 assists at his best. Nash could score 40+ with a guy like that playing with him. And when Brassard is healthy again, they'd have a solid 1-2 down the middle, and R.J. on the checking line.
