Spector pretty much compiles the rumours and ultimately dismisses all of them. I like his site as a comprehensive digest of published rumours. His analysis is hit and miss.

SSF, I would respectfully disagree. While his main site is a compilation, his Spector's Blog, THN Column and Soapbox, all linked to the main site, explore these trade rumours in depth. His analysis is IMHO some of the best in the hockey media.

What's left on Nylander's contract though? I think trades like Fisher for Nylander will happen this year. Not saying this trade is what would/should be done, but both players have contracts that are bad for their respective teams, and not necessarily bad for the team they would go to.

2 years left at 4.8.

Am I way off on this? Would you trade Fisher for Nylander (NMC's aside)? Would the Islanders?

I definitely agree that the other columns are very competent. I suppose I just notice the main site more.

I like Nylander - a lot - and I would love to have him here, but there is no chance in this cap world/economic downturn that any team can take a 'flyer' on him.

Tkachuk has said that he'd waive for Boston (which is Boston's kiss of death if they acquire him). He's apparently made a list for St.Louis to explore of teams he'll go to.

Neil will definitely be traded if you believe the Sun and that he deserves 'double' what he's making. Bye bye. Too bad though. Settle for 1.5 million a year and you're a Sen...do you really want to be a Sen that bad?

I like Neiler, a guy who can drop 'em and still play but you are right. $1.5M or let me know where you will like to go at the deadline and I will call them first but go somewhere you will, and not like it you may. <-- that last scentence is a bit Yoda-esqe

A bit? Wink

I wonder though, if Chris Neil does get traded to a playoff contender, if he will want to come back to the Senators after that...

I'd be shocked if he didn't but I think he would want to see changes in the roster, ideally.

For what it's worth, I've been texting and emailing with a source, and apparently Murray's 'dumping' list (if you will) includes the following:

Kuba (DUH!)
Smith
Lee
Vermettte
Schubert
Neil
McAmmond
and a slim possibility of Picard... but I strongly question that and Smith personally.

Either way, I'd be curious to see who Murray can turn into valuable picks and such...

Would the Caps? Probably, yeah. Would we? Dunno. I would personally because we need someone who's worth a Dung on line 2.

I've heard the name Hamhuis a lot. I've said it before and I'll keep banging the drum: we need to get rid of our entire D with the exception of Volchenkov and maybe Lee. They're all scrubs.

If Phillips won't move, then fine, I'll deal with it, but other than that, everyone must go. Come one, come all! Sale on crappy D-men. Give us your best offer.

Those were all names that I expected to see for the most part. Ideally they can move all of them and get a decent return as well.

I think both teams would do it....I brought it up because I was confused about your statement that Nylander's chance of being traded was so low. You guys know way more about this kind of thing I do, so I thought I would throw it out there. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of moves this year kind of like the one mentioned above - a bad contract on one team could very well be a great one on another.

I must be the only one who wants to keep McAmmond to replace Chris Kelly. And possible keep Vermette until the deadline next year to see what he can do in the 3rd line role (with McAmmond and Winchester). Neil is another guy I would love to keep at 1.5 million. The rest can all go: Picard, Kuba, Schubert, Jason Smith etc. etc. etc.

Oh I see. Yeah, contract for contract might be a possibility. From an Ottawa standpoint, do you really want to spend 5 million dollars on Nylander though? It doesn't make a lot of sense. I know how much Fisher has been a disappointment, but he puts arses in seats at least.

Nylander has some sever injury history and is getting old. Not sure it's the best idea.

That's why I think there are some unmoveable guys - and I strongly feel Nylander is one of them. Let's see what happens though...

How about a Kuba, Smith, Neil package to a team that needs some sandpaper, some leadership and a sprinkling of Offense in Kuba? What team would be interested and what could we get I wonder?

Hmmm. Kelly off the list, Vermette on the list. Murray must really hate french people.

Kelly can be easily replaced at half the cost. Ryan "Del" Shannon could easily play his role.

Are you surprised not to see Fisher on that list?

I could see a team talking 2 out of those 3 but all three to one teams seems alot. If im a contender i will get a missing peice but 3 peices is a big roster shake up if you ask me for a team that's a contender.
