Ok, So I download tv shows and movies from Torrentz.com but I can only play them on the computer or PS3. Is there anyway to get them converted to play on my old DVD player. Does anyone have any other good sites to go check out for movies and shows.

Get vso's DIVXtoDVD will do it, but you may want to purchase a cheap dvd player, as that is probably your issue.

If you are talking torrents, then I use www.isohunt.com and www.mininova.org ... although the latter has faced a few legal battles recently, and has thus gone down hill.

For TV shows, the best i find is www.eztv.it ... Although they are currently rebuilding their servers, and should be back online soon. They are good for individual episodes, and usually have them up within hours of airing. Even has some Pre-Airs occasionally.

In order to convert the files to play on your dvd player, you'll need a program that converts avi to dvd. You can just google that. Or if you don't trust those sites, type in avi to dvd in www.mininova.org, and read the comments. Users are pretty helpful on that site.

In terms of just streaming tv shows, www.surfthechannel.com is the one I use. They provide links (often several per episode) to other websites that stream the show you are looking for. www.ninjavideo.net also works well, and streams the video right there for you.

And if you are a police officer who asked this question so you could try and close these sites down... well, your interrogation style is second to none!!! and I must 🇬🇬

I use DVDFlick. You can also search for the subtitles to whatever you downloaded and add them to the DVD.

If you don't care about subtitles, then your best bet is a player that will play AVI and other files. Just copy them to a CD-RW and play. My player also accepts SD (and other) cards. Playback wasn't great, but perhaps with the newer, faster cards it would be better. Some players also accept USB drives.

Phillips have long been know to make players that will play just about anything, but if you downloaded high-res content it may not play it.

For TV shows I used to have a link (TVTorrents?) but last time I tried using it was either down or gone. I found kickasstorrents.com as a good replacement (needed to get Chuck S2).

are you guys serious? converting to another format? lololol

Just download xvids and play them on just about any cheap $30 walmart dvd player. My current one cost $27.

Torrents are fine, but slow in alot of cases. Invest in a rapidshare account. I paid about $9 a month on a yearly account after the exchange, and I probably download 300-400 gigs a month. Quite worthwhile imo.

Didn't I send you the names of some forums already Phoenix?

www.piratebay.org is another great one, from music to movies to games, there hasn't been much that I haven't been able to find.

Thanks everyone for the insight. As soon as I get my laptop back from the shop...apparently faulty mouse pad....I'll give some of the suggestions a try. I do enjoy watching the downloads on the PS3 but I don't want to be limited to just the PS3.

What were you talking about? I doubt there is s/w which would turn any cheap player into one that can play XVID/DiVx files; so is it s/w that turns those files into DVDs? What?

xvid is a very common codec. Any dvd player that plays divx will play xvids. Sorry I guess I should have clarified that a divx compatible player will play xvid. Even the cheapest of dvds players nowadays pretty well have mp3, divx support etc.

If you someone Wink demonoid is much better than any of the public torrent sites out there. And they don't enforce a ratio. In theory, you could never seed anything, although I don't recommend it.

How exactly do you d/l that much without hitting the caps?
AFAIK, all the major broadband providers limit you to 60-90GB per month

Mine is 100 a month. The cap is not a hard cap in that they just shut off your internet. It's nearly impossible for a big company like that to enforce it anyway. Yes the bandwidth is tracked, but the most I have ever heard of my isp doing is sending a letter saying that usage is too high and to scale it back. I've never gotten such a letter, but if I do, it must have been someone else accessing my network through a wireless device Wink

My isp actually offers a faster package that allows 150 gigs a month, but it's double the price. I'll stick with my 15mbit.
