Let's make it more attractive to Sens fans and say that Spezza would be piece one, then one of Phillips or Volchenkov and a 1st.

But dude....it's what we've always been missing. I want him so bad that sometimes I cry about it. What's Spezza and Volchenkov and a 1st when put head to head against the greatest goalie of our generation. So what if we lose 90+ points from the front, Fisher could step in there and give 'er a go. Or Vermette for that matter. There are forwards that can be bought, franchise goalies are once in a blue moon.

Which...is why we could never get him. Even if he tells the Canucks to frank off, they'll still keep him until July 1st of 2010 in the hopes that maybe he'll sign a long term deal with them.

He's a once in a long, long time kind of guy. Spezza is one of my favourites, but there's just no competition between the kind of guy he is and the kind of guy Luongo is.

Anyhow, I voted for AO. Best player in the league right now. I'd give up Heatley and Meszaros.

I'd take Luongo and Getzlaf.

Spezza for Luongo and a 1st (conditional on Luongo not resigning with us) straight up.

• Luongo gives us a stud goalie and we arent taking a big hit in offense with Spezza going out the door. This is basically a straight up deal.
  

A-Train, Nikulin or Zubov, 2009 2nd (and maybe Kelly if I can secure a decent pick) for Getzlaf

• Even thought it cost us A-train, Getzlaf gives us a replacement for Spezza. If possible I'd try to squeeze a pick but if its a no then I still do this deal. Anahiem gets a solid young Dman to go with Pronger and some solid prospects. A-train is a great loss but if I were to get Luongo then he becomes expendable, especially with his contract coming up shortly and some young D-man in the system coming up shortly that can potentially replace him at some point.

I had originally posted my choice as Luongo. Who wouldn't be enamored by a team that took a huge risk of acquiring an all star goalie who thrives under pressure.

But as I collected my thoughts, and read some of your opinion, I have now changed mine.

I would change to 'do nothing'

Why you ask? Simple. No matter what changes are made, there will always be someone who feels they did not do enough, there will be some more people who feel that they gave up the farm for a questionable return.

To go out and get a Luongo, an Ovechkin, or an Iginla, you truly would have to give up the proverbial farm, giving up fan favourites like a Spezza, a Heatley. Then, if your transplanted superstar tanks, too much pressure or something, then you have nothing.

Do nothing. Go into camp, and into the season with what we have. We've stocked the farm, so use the talent stored there. New coach, everyone looking to actually earn their spot. I forsee great things this year. Redden's gone, yup, so what. someone will want his minutes, and will work their Donkey off to get it. Meszaros is gone. See ya! You want to be paid more than the top D on our team, don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. Again, someone will step it up and fill in nicely.

I for one cannot wait for this damn season to begin.
