Vesa Toskala will miss approximately 4 months as he will undergo groin/hip surgery.

That explains the Gerber pickup. Will they try to sign him as a backup for next year, though?

yeah Gerber will not be resigned by Toronto, even if he outplays Toskala, which well, I doubt he will, except against Ottawa just to spurn us.
