Maybe the Sens need to regrow their porn staches? Maybe they should try soul patches LOL.

There has been one of those rumors about every team in the league.
In Toronto a number of years ago, it was Corson who slept with Mogilny's wife.
urban lore, purely fabricated BS.

Because they have to work for wins. Simple.
We lost that a long time ago... no one's afraid of the Sens anymore. We don't intimidate anyone like we used to. We lack confidence and as Alfie said... the team is very fragile now.asq2 wrote:Tortorella had an interesting point of view on the Sens in the Citizen today.
They've lost their swagger. Torts said that when they came to Tampa, they knew they were going to win and they had it on their faces. They don't anymore.

It reminds me of the days when it was a guaranteed loss if we got scored on first.
I was thinking the other day that this is all Paddock's fault. He had no system, no discipline, no accountability and let the players pretty much run themselves... they free wheeled it for so long they picked up all these bad habits and are a fractured team.asq2 wrote:shabbs wrote:We lost that a long time ago... no one's afraid of the Sens anymore. Or when we could never win a game when down a goal or more going into the third period.

I think that we tend to look at the coach as the scape-goat, though. Hartsburg is not, IMO, a great NHL coach but that'd be three consecutive coaches that couldn't get it out of Ottawa. Something is wrong with the players.
There's just too many struggling vets (Fisher, Phillips, Smith, Vermette etc), young kids (Foligno, Winchester, Lee, Picard) and fringe NHLers (Bell, Donovan, Ruutu, Neil) for us to compete.
The core is fine, but after that it's an absolute nightmare.
I think seeing Bell out on the ice when we had pulled the goalie really made that sink in for me. I mean Brendan ****ing Bell is your go-to defenceman?
asq2 wrote:Honestly? On a competitive team, Bell is a 7th defenceman.
On our team, he's out there with the goalie pulled.
That speaks volumes IMO.

We got to the finals with Priesing as our 6th D man, no reason Bell couldnt play that exact same role on a competitive team. I like what Bell brings as a depth D man, even as a 7th guy its not a bad guy to have.
But yes, I agree, Bell as the go to guy back there is upsetting.
