With Sundin in Vancouver, Brassard out indefinitely in CLB's, Edmonton needing a shake up and now Stastny going down. I wonder if this will increase the odds of getting a good offer for Spezza from those teams who are close to making the playoffs.

Possibly, but I still don't see us getting the best deal now for Spezza. Ideally, we wait until after the season is over and we can see where the final standings are at.

What could Colorado possibly offer for Spezza that would be of interest?

No thanks.

But, tough loss.

EDIT: Especially with Sakic gone.

Maybe we could convince them that Vermette just needs a change of scenery (which is probably true anyway).

While I must concede asq2 point of what Colorado has to offer being very little (I'd take an injured Stastny though...why not it will help with the losing this year and the winning next), you can't deny they are in need of some help...I was reading a blog and, well Adrian Dater of the Colorado Post makes a very valid point. folks. If that doesn’t drive up the alcoholism rate among the die-hard
fan base reading here, I don’t know what will."

Tyler Arnason... Tyler freakin Arnason. The Aves are definitely hard up.

The Avs just extended Stastny for several years. I can't see them moving him.

Nor do I. I think with where they are in the standings, and taking into account the injuries, throwing in the towel wouldn't be a bad thing. Especially with all the top end talent that is going to be available. Stastny goes nowhere I'd say. I'd also say that they don't have the pieces otherwise to deal for Spezza. Sure they could make a pitch like Liles, Wolski etc but I don't think that Murray goes for that. If he trades Spezza now it's to get an equal talent (which I don't think he'll find) or he's given up on this season and will take a nice package of youth and a 2009 1st.

I can't see Colorado moving Stastny either, especially not for Spezza. I just found the article a good read, and also, well...

Tyler Arnason is their number one center. They're more Diddle than we are.
