It was a definite desperation move, but to be honest, I really liked the lines last night... Until Fisher was out, and given the fact that Neil was out- I think we might have something here-

Alf-Spezz-Heatley
Vermette-Kelly-Winchester
Foligno-Fisher-Ruutu
Donovan-Bass-Neil

In my opinion, Bass should be here instead of Zubov. I know Ilya has been killing it in the minors, but he's not the type of player we need right now. We need two lines that are a scoring threat (the top two- how dangerous was that Vermette line last night??), and then two lines that beat the hell out of the opposition. I might flip flop Donovan and Ruutu on those third and fourth lines... Can we stop playing Dean McAmmond though... I love the guy, he just again doesnt seem to fit the mold of what we need right now.

Well, perhaps with Fisher out for who knows HOW long, Murray may have to make a move a little sooner than he thought.

Maybe Vermette is on the verge of getting ready to explode...
Here's my prediction: If Vermette doesn't turn his game around in the 3-5 games TOPS, he'll be gone...

As for your lines Jordo, I like them, but now one has to wonder, how long is Neil out and with Fisher down, should we expect a few more call-ups?

I don't mind keeping Zubov and then calling up Bass as well.

Alfie---Spezza----Heatley

Vermette---Kelly----Winchester

Foligno-----Zubov----Ruutu

Donovan----Bass------McAmmond

Dang, those lines look pretty good Clutch.

Should be interesting to say the least.

Man, I REALLY hope the Habs don't beat us up...AGAIN! LOL

I'd prefer to hear Fisher is OK, just a charlie horse but, If I have to that's what I'd personally do.

seriously though...Cinderalla's glass slippers are more f'n reliable than Fishy...I'd rather have Havat back...seriously do...than Fisher...

both are always injured...but at least Marty...when healthy is popping in points like its his business!!

I agree Collar. Fisher, when he's on, plays REALLY well (for the most part) but when he keeps going down with injuries, I find myself getting REALLY irritated and frustrated...

Still, despite the possibility of Vermette FINALLY waking up (after what, 3 years), I think Vermette and/or Neil will be moved before Fisher...unless extenuating circumstances present themselves...

And hey, since it sounds like Murray and Gillis are itchin' to do business together, I don't know about you, but I really wouldn't mind snagging Kessler, or that Burrows kid...

Send Fisher to Florida for Bouwmeester.
Trade Vermette and Neil to St. Louis for Stempniak and a 3rd.

Let's play some Diddle hockey.

Let's play some Diddle hockey.

Start with Bouwmeester - then move on from there. That's our biggest priority by 1000-1 margin. IF we can get him for Vermette, Neil and a 1st or whatever (and please re-sign him immediately), then we can look for offense.

Or not. Just go after Ohlund as well. We need a better D - quick!!!

I think Bouwmeester alone makes this D CONSIDERABLY better.
Then you can move any of Vermette, Neil, and Schubert for something.

I don't think we're ready to trade Fisher (although I'm ALL ears).

His NMC turns into a limited NTC in year 3 - we might have to hang on until then.

Get Bow and we can start looking at maybe an offensive player, but use Vermette etc to get Bow.

Cheechoo looks like he's not fitting in in SJ. I mean that too, he's just not...clicking. To which I say, come on down, the price is right!!!!

What would it take to get him off of the best team in the league. They literally have all the time they need for him to find his game right now. No reason for them to trade Cheechoo. However, I think he would fit in to our offense. Put him on Spezza's wing. And then keep Heatley and Alf together.

Id' be ALL for snagging Cheechoo... Bring it on Heater!

Now's the time. They might have some concerns about him going forward - and his 7 points are all the beneficiary of being on the top line for a while. They might want to clear salary to try to go after someone way bigger at the deadline.

I'm not sure by any means, but I think asking wouldn't hurt.

But make sure you have the pieces to get Bow! Don't lose them for the sake of making a trade!

I think Murray has his sights on Ohlund or Bow.
Whatever else he's thinking, i.e. Top 6 or whatever, I have NO idea...

In fact, I'm trying to chase something and so far, i've hit a brick wall.

As usual. You might as well be trying to get something out of a blind mute.

Tell me about it.

It starts with my one of two Trusty friends sending me an email or phone call saying something like "Guess WHAT??! Murray is looking at so and so and for a return of so and so. Then begins the digging, and sometimes I get confirmation, and then a snag or alteration occurs, and then NOTHING. No whispers, no denials, JUST NOTHING...

The thing is, I remember Heater and I (back @ HB back in the day) saying there was a collective feeling of not quite unease but a general sense that something was being worked out and that a move was coming. I've been having that gut feel for a few days now and the fact that the Sens keep losing certainly isn't helping either... LOL

Imo if Fisher and Neil are both out, we should bring up Smith instead. I know he's a rook, and its a completely different game in the NHL, and that Bass played well last season, but what we need is scoring. I say something like this would be solid (assuming the CASH line stays together)

Heatley - Spezza - Alfredsson

Vermette - McAmmond - Winchester

Zubov - Foligno - Smith

Ruutu - Kelly - Donovan

I can't envision more balanced individual lines with those twelve players.

That way, we've got our #1 scoring threat intact, we've got our very own kid line, and Donovan and McAmmond are split up and playing with linemates moresuited to their own personal playing style. Each will get more TOI and the lines have greater blalance.
