There's always exceptions to the rule which is why no one should take the +/- stat alone. It suggests something... but you need to look at other stats to get the real story as well as actually watching the players.

Look at Brindamour's plus minus and i DARE anyone to tell me he isnt one of the best defensive forwards inthe league.

There was a really good +/- based on time on ice and some other factors.

It had something to do with goals scored / minute on ice, goals against / minute on ice, but it factored in powerplays and some other things...

I should have bookmarked it, but it was a really interesting stat.

It was something like this, but this doesn't look quite right:

He also plays a hell of a lot more minutes, that makes a huge difference in these stats.

So does playing with Schubert and Smith as your defence parings.

How have they looked? (I'm guessing bad from your comment)

Schbert against the Habs, litterally played the 2 worst shifts in a row I am ever seen from a Sens D man, ever.

Schubert has been awful latly, just brutal. Smith, so so .

Oh yeah, those 2 guys are eternally struggling. Schubert had a few good games at D that's the extent of it...he's sucked for a while now. I'm sure he's gone soon.

When is Bell coming up? At least the guy can skate and move the puck. We have the slowest D in the league, I'm sure of it...it's so sad. Sad

I would keep Smith though, I think he's going to be very important to the team when (IF) we turn things around...even slightly.

Smith was brougt in to help avoid this, I really dont know how much of an impact he will have anymore. Basically, his assets are wasted on this team, which is not a good thing.

Seriously??? This from the guy who turns every post into a Sens need to get rid of Spezza he's a useless do nothing etc etc? And a couple of posts about Foligno and all of a sudden its an attack??

Lets consider this... IF Zubov plays well and they want to keep him around, who else can they send down?? ( Spezza?? Cause he'd clear waivers!!!) But seriously, who else do they have on a 2 way contract that they could send down without having to clear waivers. That alone makes Foligno the most likely candidate to go down if Zubov looks good. Whether he's playing bad or not and where his +/- is attrocious or not.

Don't count on it...
Schubert has been sh*t in the past two games, but who hasn't?? (not a literal question...)
Before the MTL game, he was playing very well. I believe he has the potential to develop into a very strong top-4 D-man THIS YEAR.

Uh - No...He was brought in here for April and May, not October and November.

How do you figure "his assets are wasted on this team"? What does that even mean..?

You are 100% right.
And Foligno's game has been atrocious. Its funny that the guy who knows everything doesn't know that...I will say that his game last night was marginally better, but it was still AHL calibre.
Much like Lee, Foligno needs more seasoning still...
