Seriously, people have to lay off Foligno, what on earth was wrong with his game last night!?

He's a -100 and playing only 5 minutes a game...what do you mean what's wrong with his game? Are you serious??

Dont' get me wrong, I think at times that he's good, and he will only get better, he's very young still. But he needs work, and the best place for him right now to do that would be Bingo...this team is demolishing all of these kids confidence.

Okay, so he's a -11 in 16 games...playing about 5 minutes a game...there is something seriously wrong with that.

Did you see the goal he was on for last night? One of the goals he was for against the Habs? He can control what the D do!

Foligno is playing his game and being resposible, he cant control plus minus, thus why its a stupid stat.

I suggest you watch the game, and what Foligno is doing then make a comment about his play, because last night he was still a minus and was one of the Sens best players.

Foligno has been fine in the role he is being put in. They have expected him to be everything this year, to 1st line winger, 2nd line depth, to 4th line checker, how can he possibly get comfortable on top of everything else. He is the B**** on the team right now.

+/- is a silly stat. Take this scenario: Guy scores all 5 goals for his team, all on the PP but he is also on the ice for the lone goal against which was even strength. His team wins 5-1 yet he's a -1 for the night. He was instrumental in 5 goals scored by the winning team but is a minus for the night. It's a strange stat and the only conclusion you can really draw from it is that a high positive +/- number is a sign that the player is good defensively.

Not always true. Tom Preissing led the league in +/- and he has since been exposed as a very average player in Washington.

Believe me I watch every single Sens game and see what every single player does on this team, I hold every single on of them accountable, Foligno included. Donovan and McAmmond play very little and they're both in the +, there's obviously a problem when you play 5 minutes a game and are always in the minuses. Everyone that is on the ice for the goal against is accountable. Period.

There's always exceptions to the rule which is why no one should take the +/- stat alone. It suggests something... but you need to look at other stats to get the real story as well as actually watching the players.

Look at Brindamour's plus minus and i DARE anyone to tell me he isnt one of the best defensive forwards inthe league.

There was a really good +/- based on time on ice and some other factors.

It had something to do with goals scored / minute on ice, goals against / minute on ice, but it factored in powerplays and some other things...

I should have bookmarked it, but it was a really interesting stat.
