Consistency before the 20 game mark would be great. only 5 games to get there...they better all be AWESOME hard working games...or there will be hell to pay.

This is a good move.

Auld should've been pulled last night after the 2nd goal and gerber should've been in.

While I understand where you're coming from Stargate, there was the risk that with Gerbs in, the score could have easily been EVEN more embarassing, like 6-0, or worse.

However, I think going with Auld for the next one and maybe putting Gerbs for the 2nd one makes sense; although Hartsburg has some SERIOUS whip-cracking to do... and like Stewie, I put extra emphasis on the whhhip.
With Alfie pissed, I'm hoping EVERYONE comes out hard for the next 20-25 games, not just the two games against another struggling team.

Meanwhile, Daniel Alfredsson brought practice to a halt when he swung his stick at the glass following a drill and shattered it. Alfredsson said he was just a little frustrated and didn't mean to cause the damage.

This is a little funny, I had to put it here. From the Citizen.

SensGirl11 wrote:Let me ask you all this; how is it that we've been coming out for the past 6 games (before last night) and played like a team, played hard, worked hard all the time and won some games, and lost some in OT or shootout...but then we have these games where we come out and lay an egg? Is it so hard to buy into this system, and keep up the hard work EVERY SINGLE GAME...even if we don't win...I'd feel much better about it.. How can you be so awesome and so together as a team one day and just totally tank the next? It's one extreme to the next with these guys, and it has to stop now! I don't understand what the big deal is and why it's so hard to just stick to the system. Nobody has been moved from any line for the past 6 games and it was working well for us...I don't understand it at all...it makes no sense to me..

Because guys are still way too comfortable here and no matter what happens, no one is dealt, no one is sat, nothing. Yeah, calling them out is fine, but until something series happens, nothin will change. The Sens organization is all talk it seems and the players pick up on that. Murray is not an all talk kind of guy and he will pull the trigger if something serious doesnt happen soon.

Thank God. Hartsburg makes a good move!

:lol!: You're funny Cronie, I love it!

As for the goaltending situation, I really don't know how much it would've mattered whether it was 6-0 or 1-0...we were outplayed, and our guys had nothing to give...it didn't really matter who was in nets, that's my opinion...but yes, had it not been for Auld in the first 10 minutes (and the rest of the game) it would've been 7-0 before the end of the first...that's just sad.

So now, we wait and see what Murray thinks and/or how he reacts to the teams next 6 games (2 of which against the Isles which may NOT be a huge indicator of anything) but the next few against rivals and something tells me if Hartsburg cannot motivate them and/or if they do NOT respond to the call, Murray will NOT hesitate and shake things up. Neely, you're aboslutely right, lately or rather for the past 4-5 seasons, calling out has led to nothing but bluffs, so it's up to Hartsburg and Murray to show these guys that they mean it...

EDIT: I have to say too that this is personal annoyance for me. If I do not perform my job to a set of standards, I no longer receive a pay check and I'm summarily let go... HOLD THESE FREAKIN' PLAYERS ACCOUNTABLE. Stop saying the word, ACT On it!

You're BANG ON Cronie, these guys have to BE accountable...not just told that they have to be...they have to act upon it.

Sit whoever isn't working hard, and they should turn it around pretty quickly...they aren't scared of being benched because they arent' being benched...I don't care what your name is...

Exactly. So the question, who should be the first 'victim' of the pressbox?

They cant sit anyone right now because there is no one to fill the roster spot. Murray is keeping cap space open for a reason...

There may be a shake up sooner rather than later, and personally, I think this team has to start building for 2 or 3 years down the road.

I guess one could argue that the window of opportunity for the Sens is the next 4 years, but essentially, i'll say 3 because I don't know how Alfie will fare in his last year.

So, if they can get some extra $$ from getting into the playoffs and MAYBE making it to the 2nd round AT LEAST (and that seems far from happening judging by their current play) then perhaps Murray needs to make some more LONG-TERM shakeups to ensure that this team is stacked heading into the 2010-2011 or the 2011-2012 season, thereby increasing their odds of being a force to be reckoned with while other teams will be on the downturn.

Speaking of which, if the HABs don't hoist the cup this year (notwithstanding it's their 100th year) I suppose the fans will say it's a colossal failure of sorts, but Gainey will be in UFA HELL this coming off-season. By my last count, he has approximately 9 UFA's to deal with. Should be interesting.

lol, glad you got the credit for my points haha. Who can be a victim of the press box? Ruutu is suspended, there isnt anyone who can step in and play up front right now, you cant sit anyone.

Shannon gets the call from Bingo.

The only reason I say Spezza is because if his NTC, if Heatley was expendable we woud be talking about him.

Seriously, I think the right package is there for Spezza at the end of the year, and it is with a desperate team.

Shannon should be in the NHL period. I know we don't have room on the roster for him...but he should be playing, as should Bass. We'll see who gets the call tonight...Shannon or Bass for sure...

Well...not 'cap' related. But we can only carry 23 players on the roster. Shannon and Bass would only cost ~1.8 and we have 3.2. It would be kinda nice to see these guys in town training with the Sens. But, we can't and it would eat away at the money we have sitting there (that better damn well get used!).
