How do you guys feel about the report that Ottawa may be trying to being back Colin white?
I’d be perfectly happy with that at a small cap hit.

I think Nylander might be back but if he isn’t he’ll be signed and traded. Same for schifelie and Hellybuyck, signed and traded.
Elias will fully get a huge deal from Van.

Hence none of these guys will hit FA

Maybe one year at league minimum-ish. Even then I'd rather Brass, but ahead of Brass I'd rather Sokolov and Smejkal.

This is how I see our bottom six playing out next year - at least to start assuming we don't add depth as part of the Cat trade.

There's also the possibility the Sens trade Cat to Detroit. I'm assuming it would be Berggren and Boston 1st coming back. If that's the case I'd take it and run. Sign Tarasenko. They may insist on including Zadina as a cap dump so they have enough cap space to sign Cat and re-sign Veleno.

I’m still unsure if Sokolov can make the team. His speed is a real issue.

Yeah. If we’ve got tarasanko in our pocket then if that’s the deal you take it in run. Beg green is the equivalent of a 2nd rounder (maybe even more) so you pretty much break even on the deal. Plus you got room for another 30 Ish goal player.

He probably wants a one way contract which he 100% deserves

I disagree. He needs to be in the call ups but he hasn’t played enough up with the big club to really show he belongs. Give him a 2 way 1 year contract and call him up.

Maybe they offer him the Dorion special. Two year contract, second year one-way. Maybe this is all waiting on Cat trade as well given that Kelly is on a one-way himself and Dorion seems to like Smejkal.

Anyway - that's more cap space in Detroit. Seems the Cat deal is inevitable at this point. My guess is he gets offered somewhere in the $8.3M range but only gets offered 4-5 years. Perhaps the location helps with negotiations a bit...
