They sure are. And he sure is.

At 21 years old though, and with the potential to be a number one or two guy as soon as next year. When he figures everything out, he could easily be a 50+ point D-man who is a devastating hitter/crease clearer. I love that deal for Columbus, but it ends when he's at his absolute peak at 27.

Sounds like an offer sheet might be in the works for Jones and/or Trouba.

They play him that now so they can avoir playing him 9 mille à year in 3 years is what i imagine they are trying to do.

he has barely cracked 30 in his first three seasons. He's an overrated d-man at the moment who they are gambling on to improve. I don't see him being worth more than 5.5-6 down the road.

Jones just signed for 6 years, so he's out of that.

20 points in 41 games last year with Columbus though - and he'll be given every single opportunity to succeed as a top pairing guy. It's a gamble I would have gladly done as GM.

Now...Columbus is in cap HELL though. Hartnell and Tyutin available for cheap! Perhaps Dubinsky, Foligno and Bobrovsky too.

Tyutin was bought out today, I believe.

Wow, that's a lot to pay for potential.  We did that with Cowen, that turned out pretty bad.  Seriously, Seth Jones fell in the draft (first red flag) then got traded (second red flag) and, really, has not produce (either offensively or otherwise) at a level to make anyone question his fall in the draft.

Seth Jones (career stats):
240 games 17 goals

Cody Ceci:
205 games, 18 goals

Jones has a lot more assists, true, but then Jones does not play behind Karlsson (so more ice time, more PP time).

Also, meaningless stat and all, but Jones is -34.

The league has denied the leafs buyout of Cowen due to a continuing injury.

8 years, 7.5 per year for Ekblad. Is probably going to be considered quite a deal by the middle of that.

Tim Murray is a man of few words, but he had quite a few to say about Kane's latest problems:

But he said even more by signing Okposo.

Moral of the story, never draft anyone by the last name of Kane. Nothing but trouble.

Lawyer representing Kane is the same one that represented the other Kane.
