Trouble in Hab land?

http://www.gohabsgo.com/2016/05/10/geoff-molson-heeds-the-words-of-a-former-habs-memb/

Apparently former Habs Captain and head coach Guy Carbonneau "denounced the organization a few months saying that the team had become less and less accountable under the guidance of Bergevin and Therrien"; Geoff Molson found out about this and met with several former players (Carbo, Lambert, Houle and others) to discuss these comments.

Pretty soon I'd fire them both. Useless.

Remember how much the media was drooling over Bergevin when he was hired??  Turns out he's an idiot.

He actually made some good moves in his first couple years. This past season he took a couple gambles that both fizzled (Kassian, Semin), the Smith-Pelly trade didn't work out at all, and he was moved for a 1st round bust. But his latest blunder was keeping Therrien.

When the team owner is meeting with former players to discuss comments like Carbo's it doesn't sound likely that the GM survives for much longer. If they stumble out the gate at all, look out.

He thinks he's smarter than everyone and that adding "depth" and waiting for the odd trade bargain (Petry) is enough to get his Dung team to the next level.

Yep, look at Gordo in his Morgante Men's Wear suits.

So apparently tallon moves up to the presidency in Florida and Rowe becomes the new GM. Wonder if that's good or bad for tallon sometimes the presidency is given as a way to get them out of making decisions sometimes it's the master of puppets... Hard to tell what this move means.

No, in this case it's clearly a master of puppets role.

Tallon will continue to oversee all scouting, player acquisitions, and development, but all decisions on trades, signings, and draft picks will be done by committee.

This group will include three men who also received promotions Monday - general manager Tom Rowe and assistant GMs Eric Joyce and Steve Werier.

He's basically a super-GM. While Rowe is GM in name, the role in this structure doesn't appear to have much power beyond asking, "What would you like to do in this case Mr. Tallon?"

San Jose looking a little more dominant in this game against the Blues. I imagine they'll take this one and never look back.

Well, I sure hope so.

EDIT: Well, they could lose one more and that would be alright.

Ok, I hate this article so much. Anyone read Yost's latest?

http://www.tsn.ca/examining-the-true-value-of-toronto-s-first-overall-pick-1.491169

He basically determines the value of each pick based on Adjusted Games Played. This means that the only data used to determine a player's value is games played. Then he proposes a whole bunch of trade packages that would equate to "fair value" for Toronto's 1st overall. He comes up with Toronto getting the 7th and 20th as a slight overpayment and a package of 2nds, 3rds, a 5th and a 6th having better value than the 1st overall.

I just don't understand why anyone would bother writing an article based on the premise that games played = player value. It's such a stupid exercise.

Rant over.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. No words...

That's terrible. Even if you get more games played, you're comparing four players to one. They can just use the picks they already have and get way more games played...

Robin Williams said best: "Excrement. That's what I think of [T. Yost]."
