Are the Sens really looking to fill the position of a defensive coach?  They have to get a goaltending coach (not Shaw) so basically Boucher  and Crawford replace Cameron, Tourigny and Smith.  I'm not convinced they would add *another* associate coach (Shaw was associate coach for a few years).

Uh, yeah.  See our GA from last season.  And I'd take someone from a competitive western team that knew how to play defense.

After that get a goaltending coach and call it a day.

What I meant was that between the head coach and the associate coach, do we not have enough hockey acumen to fulfill both defensive and offensive responsibilities?

NHL salary cap isn't expected to change for next season. Maybe we can take advantage of some team.

Let's see. Chicago is always having trouble with the cap. Hoffman for that punk from Buffalo. He has a big salary, right? Sarcasm

I mean who wouldn't want a player like Kane in Ottawa but let's be real, parents would have to lock up their daughters during the times of the years he's here. Doesn't make much sense.

Too soon?

Every team collects something like 16 million from Vegas for the expansion fee apparently. That can't be bad, especially for lower budget teams.

Muller back to Montreal as an assistant. That has "Therrien fired if he fails to get the team going early on" written all over it.

Over 3 mill a season for a Fourth line center. I must be loosing touch with the times but that's a Diddle load of money for the position...

Associate.

Put this in the context of the owner sitting down with former Habs greats to discuss Carbonneau's concerns. "Captain" Kirk is a former Captain of the Habs. Problem is the current set of players don't have any connection to the glory years. With their million dollar contracts I don't know if they will be any more inclined to listen to Carbo or Kirk or Gainey or whoever. "To you from failing hands we throw the torch be yours to hold it high" -- not sure if that has as much meaning to multi-millionaires as it did in the past. I think it has to start from the top -- the owner looks like he's bought in, so I think if things don't go well by November we will see a new GM (Carbo?) with Kirk taking over for Therrien.

I sure hope Muller gets the HC job. I personally think he's crap.

I liked Muller as a player...his coaching resume isn't great. I dunno if he would ever be made the HC of Montreal, though, as I'm not sure if he speaks French well at all.

Laugh1 I get such a kick out of this. Like, why does it matter if the coach can speak to the fans? Get a Cussing translator and the best coach. Actually, scratch that. Only hire coaches based on their language abilities and keep heading downhill. Stupid habs.

It's not for the fans, it's for the media.
