Muller was one of my favorite players, but as a coach I don't know if he can be the "bad cop" if/when that's required. Ideally you need to be able to be bother, as the situation requires, otherwise you complement the head-coach with assistant/associate(s) who fill in these gaps.

FWIW, Pierre Mcguire seems to think Brad Shaw is a fit as associate coach in Ottawa. Would be pretty dope having Boucher, Crawford, Shaw running the show.

When McGuire was asked what he thought about Hitch taking a 1 year deal he said he knows Hitch is comfortable taking that because he's not worried about term, he could get another job quickly if he got fired. Today they said "When we asked you yesterday why Hitch took a 1 year deal you said 'Because he only wanted 1 year' so you are really plugged in".

Are the Sens really looking to fill the position of a defensive coach? They have to get a goaltending coach (not Shaw) so basically Boucher and Crawford replace Cameron, Tourigny and Smith. I'm not convinced they would add *another* associate coach (Shaw was associate coach for a few years).

I wonder though. At one point you have to worry about too many cooks in one kitchen. The assistants really have to understand their place. It can work but careful.

We do need to bring in someone that can help with the D in a big way. I don't know who that is personally but it's needed.

Uh, yeah. See our GA from last season. And I'd take someone from a competitive western team that knew how to play defense.

After that get a goaltending coach and call it a day.

So Pittsburgh outplayed SJ again last night. Looks like the Sharks are in serious trouble

I'd be all for Brad Shaw, I think he still lives in Ottawa. Boucher will probably hire Martin Raymond, he was his assistant in TB and Hamilton. Old buddy I assume.

As for goaltending coach (Louis Jean I think I can't find it now) reported Pierre Groulx and Fred Brathwaite are being considered.

I hear this Rick Walmsley fellow is an excellent goalie coach....we should see what he's up to.

What I meant was that between the head coach and the associate coach, do we not have enough hockey acumen to fulfill both defensive and offensive responsibilities?
