Karlsson tied for 2nd in scoring. Wow. If Kane had been indicted or if not for having the ROTY on his line Karlsson could be in the lead.

Can Karl's still win the hart? Would be great if he pulled a Carey price from last year.

Edit: we already know we'll have to pay him 10+ mill on his next contract so might as well have him win it all. I hope we have a new owner by he time his contract is up.

If he doesn't stay in Ottawa it won't be because of money. Melnyk has proven he will resign his own, he just won't spend to add.

Did he learn from his Alfie fiasco? Do they try and lowball Karl's?
Do they do enough in the mean time to convince him Ottawa is a place you want to spend your whole career? It's all about spending on him and on the rest of the team.

All Melnyk has proven is that he will ice a team. There is a cap floor. Of course he resigns players. He has to have a roster and it has to have a minimum amount of money spent. If you iced a team full of players on ELCs you wouldn't reach the floor. No if you ask me, resigning players has proved nothing. Nothing at all. He likes to hover around the floor.

Looks like The Buffer is staying in Winnipeg. Let the dominoes fall.

$7.6M for 5 years. I don't know, is Byfuglien that good? Seems a tad overpaid IMO

You can't teach size. He's a beast. When he wants to be.

Can't argue with those numbers. Short-ish term, market value. Good to go for the Jets and Fat Byfuglien.

Great deal for the Jets. Buff could have gotten either 7 years at that value or more cash on that term.

Maybe he's happy with a place where he stays appreciated and his contract won't be an anchor past year 5. Or worse if they wish to part ways he doesn't become untradeable

When they showed him enjoying some nearby fishing, my guess was he would stay.

Don't worry. They still have Fleury.
