2 picks can be used to trade up for a true stud

NEELY wrote:Haha no way.  If they get that 21st and get rid of Legwand that's just genius.

And if Lehner blossoms into the #1 goalie everyone knows he can be? Ugh. I'm not going to like the outcome of this, no matter what, methinks.

i don't understand why it matters if he becomes a #1, which he should. They would have gotten a #1 somewhere so it's not like we're really helping them a lot

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Robin Lehner heading to BUF. Sounds like Lehner and Legwand to BUF for 21st pick. Pending trade call. Not official yet.

Worst case scenario - Lehner and Bishop are great for their teams.

As we have seen for the last few years, there always seem to be 2-3 great young goalies available every year. If Anderson/Hammond/O'Connor flame out, finding a good goalie on the trade market

Per Bob McKenzie, looks like Lehner and Legwand for 21st pick (Buffalo).

Been a while since I posted, but I hate this trade. I was against the Bishop trade and now they are trading away the only other piece of our goalie future. There are only 3 possibilities. A) They really believe Hammond is better than Lehner (ridiculous) B) Lehner has bigger injury issues than we all know about C) Matt O'Conner is closer to playing in their eyes than we think and they are willing to wait 2 years for him over Lehner.

Either way trading him to a in division rival is stupid and will haunt us.

Solid. Solid trade.

Are they done? Trade down?

Will be interesting to see if price for tabot increases.

Really...How has that worked for the Sens in their history. IF there are always 2-3 great young goalies available why has Ottawas goaltending been so Dung.

That's not a very valid statement in my opinion....

Dislike that's it's in the division - again.

The return is nice, but if lehner turns out to be a stud you have to play him 6 times a year now.

If NEELY"s info was true, then the Sens will WANT to play him and score on him 6 times a year

The reality is Craig Anderson is the better goalie right now and will be for the next 2-3 years (proven amazing performances in Sens' last 4 playoffs)

In 4 years, we will have at least 3 more prospects (Driedger, O'Connor and that swedish guy) who can pan out.

Ding ding ding.

People look at including Legwand as just a salary dump, but are forgetting that he is actually a useful player too, that just didn't fit in here for whatever reason.

You gotta think that the removal of legwand to sign RFAs and open roster spot has some significant value.

I'd equate it to getting a 1st and 2nd for Lehner.

That's excellent

I personally don't believe goalies are that important anymore that you need a guy to be your future when you have a guy here for the next four years at least. You can get goalies from everywhere.

It clears a logjam up front and in the crease and clears $5.5 Million in the cap. Gets another 1st in the best draft since 2003.
How can you not like this deal???
