WP Rager and his Texas Instruments calculator beg to differ, old friend.

Nope. Don't care about odds of making since I'm not betting on anything.

Need a regulation win here, although a non-regulation win still shaves off 1 point and we still have 1 game in hand.

Bruins are playing the third game in four nights. Surely they'll be tired. But it looks like Detroit were thinking the same and gave up 50 shots to them.

Would you trade a win to a long-term injury to Marchand?

I think the fact that the Bruins are playing the third game in four days and also had two traveling days in there may have had something to do with the decision. Big and tired likely means not very fast. They still have fast players but they are not the big hitters.

I think the results are pretty indicative of them being wrong.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one, that doesn't make any sense to me. If you have 3 capable pairings you play all of them, not roll 4 Defensemen especially when you play in your own end the entire period.

I honestly don't know the reason that pairing didn't play but it wasn't because of their play that game. Maybe past performances and a lack of trust but it wasn't based on their play that game because they were both very good.

I believe it would have been the reverse had they been down a goal.

That's under the assumption that the coach considers that his 2nd pair... maybe Gryba/Borowiecki is his 2nd pair? It's not black and white.

That could very well be it. Wiercioch isn't the "best" defender on the team, nor is Ceci. Maybe he thinks they're better in more offensive situations.

To be honest, I would trust Gryba/Boro over the Ceci/Wiercioch pairing to defend a lead. But maybe that's where the issue lies - protecting the lead vs playing to score again. Ottawa sat back and almost paid the price for it.

It should be noted that, if Ceci and Weircioch were benched for most of the third then what was the reasoning for the first 13 minutes when they were still up 4-0? You can't really argue the concept of protecting a lead can you? I could see if they were up by a goal or two but up 4 zip?

I agree with this, Cameron got too far away from the normal game plan along with Karlsson and the rest slipping into a hockey coma.

That whole 3rd period was weird.

Calgary is pesky. Reminds me of Ottawa from the lockout year. Can never count them out of games. Hopefully Ottawa puts the foot to the pedal tonight and plays a 60 minute game. Playoff game tonight.

If there was a game for Greening, this was it. Not 100% sure about keeping Puempel in, although he's been fine. T minus 3 hours. Beer

Heading off now. $8 for shuttle after spending $30 to eat at Boston Pizza vs $12 for parking. They all suck. But in the end I settled for a $4 McCain's at home (rising crust, not half bad) so that leave some cash for poutine at the CTC.

GO SENS GO!!!
