I don't really have whipping boys, just call it like I see it. He had some brutal giveaways that led to sustained pressure by Boston and it looked like he was skating in mud. That position held by Phillips or Wiercioch is a clear weakness IMO.

Smith got injured, which immediately made me think of Pageau. I also find smith useless.

As for faceoffs, there's really no surprise there. We're weak they're the best - its a bad mix.

I don't think you can criticize Zibanejad really, that line created chances all night. I can't really think of opportunities to shoot that he passed up - at least he's starting to get the game and play it properly, that's all we can ask for at this point.

Meh. Wiercioch was pretty invisible last night, which is good thing to say of your bottom pairing D guys.

Fisher can't score goals like that.

It's funny that you say that because it was 100% a Spezza goal, with the fake slapper then going wide and rifling it in the short angle.

Also, I reiterate my undying love for BoroCop. If someone could Photoshop his face onto Robocop, that'd be awesome.

If they gave him 4, 5 straight games and a consistent message lets see what he does then. The Sens group of 6 D men right now (minus Phillips) can be good to great one day, there's no need to make a move right now short of moving out of or both of Phillips and Methot.

He's your personal new whipping boy, isn't he?  We held the big bad Bruins to 31 shots through 65 minutes.  Won the game.  He was even on the night.  You want to point fingers from that game?  How about the centers, who managed to win 18 faceoffs while losing 50!

Zibanejad had a sweet goal plus the one in the shot out, but he had just that one shot on goal in the whole game.  We want him to shoot more, don't we?  Ryan has a broken finger and other stuff too, yet he had 3 shots and stood out with a few nifty plays. But because of the goal scoring streak (that's what this is) everyone is heaping praise on #93.

Smith played a whopping 7 minutes and did sweet nothing. Bring up Pageau right effing now!

You and your stats...
They both look solid and are the Sens 2 best forwards right now. I don't care if the stat sheet says he had -10 SOG

Yeah they need to stick to one constant group of 6 for a longer period of time.

Hopefully Wiercioch can settle in, though I'm not sold. You know Cameron will go back to Phillips next game though. Or I think he will.

Sounds likely to me:

"“It’s not a message because of his play by any means. Chris was benched because we have depth. He’s a big part of this organization but he’s one of the guys we have to rest,” said Cameron."

Made the right call, then decided to wimp out when describing his rationale. Disappointing.

Or you could not change a winning lineup. On a team that has won, what, 5 of its last 15?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's called respecting a guy and not throwing him under the bus. Nothing to see here really. But it's not like you can bench him every game.

That's exactly what should happen from now until our next loss.

Oh sure that's cool, don't change the winning lineup. But I was just saying it's not like he's played his last game as a sen lol.

Wasn't criticizing Zibanejad. He's been on a terrific little run and that (currently) is our top line. But other than scoring that goal (nice setup from Ryan, btw) and, of course, the one in the SO he didn't make his presence felt like he had in the previous couple of games.

Speaking of the shootout, both Zibanejad and Ryan are pretty good. That move Ryan made was filthy, especially after he almost won it in OT on part-A of that move. And Zibanejad keeps coming up with different ways to score.

I really don't think Wiercioch had a bad game at all, however I have to admit that I watched a lot of it in FFW mode.

No, I don't think so either, altho' we do seem to be marching in that direction.

I just don't think there's anything wrong with saying he's got to be better. He does. He's been awful for weeks, and it's hurting us. Phillips is not going to get the right message if you tell him we're sitting him for any other reason than that. If DC said one thing in private and another in public, that's fine, I get that. But if the private and public message are the same, that's a problem.

I already said it but let me repeat -- I'm not slamming Zibanejad, but I feel like Ryan was much stronger last game and, in fact, over the last few games it's been Ryan who makes Zibanejad go rather than the other way around. The guy's playing with a broken finger and who knows what else and he doesn't get half the praise that Zibanejad gets.
