Cant believe they almost tied it up after this farce of a game.
Anyway, stupid penalties was the number 1 story.

well at least it wasn't a complete embarrassing loss.
you gotta think they make that kid line the second line. honestly, we could use a trade. i'm with neely and spezz, you think about moving Z Smith, we'd be better off with pageau centering that line.

I've seen enough of Zack Smith in those past 3 years
He's a 4th line centre.  Least of the issues unless you try to move him up or play him on the wing.

Zingy is not a winger.  Too many centres on this team.  I bet Lasar goes to the WJC and then back to the Dub.

It's a major issue. When the other 3 lines suck the 4th needs to do something. Bobby Ryan is useless right now but what else can you do, he is not in shape and that's not gonna change this year.
If you wanna be a good team you need 20 good players.

You basically just said every player needs to be good.

I also don't think Bobby ryan won't improve physically as the season goes along. They should just put him with Turris and stop this nonsense.

Watch Calgary play and tell me one player who is not playing well on that team, not matter their role and style of play.

Calgary is massively overachieving and no not every one of their players is good. Youre just biased because you want the Sens every game.

He was very good in the third tonight with Lazar

Not true at all. I may not have seen all calgary games but I've watched a lot. They don't give opposing teams grade A chances like we do for sure, their passes are tape to tape and they don't fall all over the place.

Yes they are overachieving and it is a compliment.

its still a bias because you and everyone watches the Sens every game and nitpicks them more than they would a team they're watching casually. Calgary by and large has been very lucky this year and I'm not buying them for one second, especially given how everyone thought Hartley was Dung just one year ago.

If you do argue that we should look at Calgary, it's not the players, it's the coaches. We have a better lineup then Calgary without a doubt.

Still like this Ottawa team a lot. Lots of positives hidden in all the negative, young team is a young team. The inconsistency is the biggest issue and will get sorted out over time.

Exactly, it doesn't matter, it's about building a foundation. I'm still concerned about maclean as I don't think he is the guy who leads us to a cup and I think whoever our next Gm is will bring in his own guy

They have a better defensive core that sends their forwards on a lot of breakaways.
Our forwards just dump the puck because we can't break out of our zone to save our lives.
Not sure if that's on coaching, on the forwards or on the defense.

Boro made one mistake today and he panicked for the rest of the game. Problem is there is no one on our blueline to tell him to calm down because everyone is the same.

There's a lot of positives for sure but I'm not gonna point them out tonight.

Like MacLean but not sure he is a guy who will lead the Sens to where the need to be. Think he is the perfect guy for this current team though.

Ottawa is still void of some leadership on the back end other than Phillips, that's an issue for sure. That's not a knock on Karlsson either, he's trying to find the right mix of everything and that will take time, I basically mean support for him and the other younger guys. Blue line is absolutely too young.

Plays go to die on smith and Neil's sticks. Smith is a real waste of space. There's a whole bunch of guys who could do what smith does but with more offense.

I also have an issue with MacLean. The ridiculous amount of shots we face on a nightly basis puts us at a disadvantage right off the bat.

NEELY wrote:The guy they should 100% be looking to move is Zack Smith.  Rather have Greening playing the wing on the 4th line than Smith centering it.  There are 4 better centers in Ottawa than Smith and he doesn't have the ability to move to the wing.  Maybe get Ottawa's 3rd back for him.

Big time. It's not a small sample size either.
