You are comparing apples and oranges.  In 2011/12 Gonchar was getting some of the Pp time that Karlsson is getting now.  Shots from the D are the same just a higher percentage come from EK.

Finally, a valid point! So much more refreshing than "0% sense" and stupid condescending smilies. "Most intelligent discussion" can only take place if more than one person tries. Thank you!

The PP this year has also changed to have just one D on the back, and it's usually Karlsson.

Dropped or not his accuracy is based on the fact he gets pucks through to the net and not blocked.  That's why he is on the point 30 mins a night.  You are comparing a D man to forwards and yes, that makes 0% sense.  Karlsson's job is to stir the offense and if they go in for him once in a while it's a bonus.  Using shooting percentage for a D man is pretty pointless.

I'm not comparing Karlsson's 7.4 to Chiasson's 19.2 to say that he should always look to pass to Chiasson.  I *am*, however, saying that Karlsson was more effective three years ago when he shot a lot less and used his forwards a little more.  And this year's crop of forwards have much better shooting percentages than three years ago.

So why do you think he is shooting so much more?  Certainly not because it's making him more efficient or the team better.  Maybe it's the pressure of the Captaincy, making him think he has to do this all by himself?  Maybe it's because he has not yet developed the same trust with Chiasson/Stone/Hoffman?  Maybe it's because the coaches are telling him to shoot more?  Maybe it's because he hates being outshot every night?  I don't think any of us have any idea why, other than guessing.

But why would you dismiss my suggestion out of hand, without even looking into its merits?  The Sens are *not* a good team.  They have a bunch of players who could be better.  Will they get better by doing the same things?  I don't think Kalrsson's shooting percentage can get significantly better and I don't think he can shoot significantly more, so there has to be another way.

Answered above. Shooting at the net more because it's a safe place to put the puck and a smart place to put it as well. If there's too much pressure, guys are covered, and you are trying to create, shooting at the net and getting the puck through covers all the sticking points.

I find intelligent discussion happens when I just ignore the inane stuff. Which I forgot to do in this one instance. My bad.

Swell, I guess back to ignore.

I'm looking forward to not reading posts about how you didn't watch the game. Very soothing to the soul.

Ev is wrong. Zibanejad sits. Team wins. Glorious.

I honestly didn't think Zibanejad was going to sit but after that Detroit game he may have needed it. Long process with Zibanejad, years.
