If Lombardi was smart he would have sent Voynov's contract to the minors at the beginning of the suspension. Would have saved a portion of the caphit while suspended. Doubt any other GM would have the balls to claim him off waivers with the current domestic abuse climate, not to mention have enough cap space or budget.

Hence the part where I said "a portion of the caphit".

Didn't they win the Cup with him in goal a few years ago?

I'd say MAF has his fair share of blame to their playoff failure at times. since the year they won the cup he hasn't done anything to steal any games in the playoffs.

There is no way that any owner would allow his GM to pick up a wife beater the day after it was all over ESPN. No chance especially in The US.
