Alexei Cherepanov in serious condition

Apparently last night during a game, Alexei Cherepanov fainted and had to receive a forward heart massage and an adrenaline shot in the heart. Jagr was visibly shaken and crying at the incident.

Cherepanov is in hospital in what's being considered 'the utmost serious condition'.

Very scary and very sad. Good luck to him and the Rangers' organization.

only 19 . Jagr has to live with that for the rest of his life. double J just can't catch a break

Absolutely terrible.

What always astounds me is that these are young men, not only in the best possible physical condition, but also undergoing a battery of tests every season. If there was anything wrong with his heart, would they not have caught something earlier?

That's awful news. I have no idea how this kind of stuff happens. My condolences go out to his teammates, friends and family.

Didn't Mickey Renauld have an underlying heart condition? Also, was Cherry at the NYR prospect's camp? he would of been tested there. if not, i doubt russia's monitoring is acceptable

When the average attendance is under 4,000 and you're still paying players million-dollar salaries I suppose corners are being cut. Sad, but perhaps another reason for players to want to keep to the NHL.
