now you made me do it! honestly I don't care what fans think. so many fans don't even know what they are seeing when they're watching a game. they should just have a little faith that Bm talent scout know how to find and evaluate talent.
we thought people would learn after all the drafting and trades in the past years.

Good trade for sure.

I am a big fan of the Bishop/Conacher trade. Murray took it to the wire and managed to get someone that will help us immediately but is also capable of being here long-term. Can't ask for much more than that, when you consider that we were trading our 3rd string goalie.

Conacher will fit in perfectly with Ottawa's style, and hopefully he can develop some chemistry quickly with whatever line he plays on.

When TSN interviewed Bishop after the trade, you could tell he was disappointed to be leaving...with Conacher, you could tell he was excited to be coming...exactly what you want.

He can float up and down the lineup when a line is looking for a bit of a spark or when things need to be stirred up a little as well. Guy is fearless and hopefully will be hell to play against, a little more like Theo and St.Louis for sure.

Yup. He really seemed to like it in Ottawa.

Bish seemed to fit in really well and was well-liked by his teammates. The Murrays seem to place a high value now on "character" and go after guys they think will fit into the room well. I expect Conacher will be fit in almost immediately. Everyone will respect his work ethic and attitude, me thinks.

Conacher will wear #89 with us...same as former Ottawa small-man, Mr. Michael Comrie.

Comrie was a nice add in 2007.

Can't stop thinking about this comparison. I see it when I think about it, fearless, crazy net drive, little guy, plays big, major skill. Another St.Louis perhaps.

Or Ryan "Del" Shannon?

Conacher won the Calder Cup with Norfolk last year, so he has the same pedigree as many of our young players. It's not like he's having some fluke of a season...the man has put up major points in every league he's played in, every year.

I would've been fine trading Bishop straight-up for Conacher.

was reading some opinions and most people seem to believe this is a win for both sides if not definately ottawa. Funniest start i seen was from wayne scanlan who sums up the biggest loss on this for the senators

"Ottawa Senators lost 11 inches in height on the deal....."

It is a win for both sides. One of the few "hockey" trades made recently. Murray is better at "hockey" trades than rentals, it seems.

It's a great trade, we could use a guy with Conacher's skill, persistence and drive. Kind of missed with Foligno gone. I hope he is a Brendan Gallagher type and does for us what he did for the Habs.

Some guy on HFB says we had an offer of Yandle for Zib and Bishop. I would not have done that, and glad Murray didn't either (if true).

Ha. Interesting rumour if there's any truth to it, but it's irrelevant now.

Yikes, that's serious business. Yandle is amazing, but now Zib has come into his own and will rapidly progress I would imagine. This is a case of too late for Phoenix I would imagine. Had they pitched that to us in the off-season, we may have said yes.
