We're not going to, though. One day he'll show up to practice and Mac will say "He was there when I got to the rink" and that'll be it. Mac has already said something along the lines of, when the guy is injured he doesn't want to talk about him. He doesn't want to make plans which include the player coming back into the lineup at any specific time. He's out of the lineup, until he is in the lineup. Until then, he makes do with what he's got.

Here's the latest on the trade front, according to Darren Dreger. Dreger believes that Bryan Murray is a "creative" GM who will be making moves between now and April 3. I guess Murray would have to be "creative" to add the scoring punch he seeks since the "padlock is on the pocketbook." So adding a big ticket player is unlikely.

Sounds like Dreger hyping the TSN Trade Deadline show.

Kind of obvious, we're not trading our prospects and we are not taking on salary cap dumps.

Nah, he's had his chance. I thought Mac loved him and that he'd be re-signed as a utility guy who can move up and down the lineup, but I don't think that'll be the case.

Spending money doesn't necessarily mean taking on salary cap dumps.

Briere is a different story and he's being close to forced out. He's a cap dump but again, real money of 5 mil over the next 2 years, that's it. For a team with a ton of cap space that's the perfect trade. Automatic in the playoffs and adds another top 6 forward. Ottawa is his home town as well and he has a full NTC... might want a chance at a cup too.

Taking salary cap dumps doesn't mean spending money either.

Dreger basically means "money in = money out". If he can't exceed a certain dollar amount without Melnyk's approval, then he can't.

If Anderson is back by the deadline you could probably see a Bishop for Briere deal... and that would make a lot of sense. Imagine turning a 2nd rounder into a signed Briere when the majority of his cap has been paid out. The depth he would add to the Sens would be huge... a guy that can step in and play anywhere in the top 6.

I don't even think it's that far fetched... if they added Perry on UFA day, wow, watch out for the Sens. Cup favorites in the East for sure.

That requires an additional 13 million dollars in real money to be added next season though. Even with some guys coming off the payroll, I think that might be farfetched.

Sorry...13 million + 4 for Alfie because he's getting 1 million this year (so 5 million).

There's not much of a market for Bishop it seems. Bernier has been on the market since offseason as well and nothing has happened. Most teams can try out one of their goalie prospects for free rather than trade for Bishop.
Don't forget Luongo/Schneider on the market as well.

Alfi would be about 3 mil if I had to guess but yah, there will be guys going out the door for sure in Regin and Daugavins which would is more than 1/2 of Briere's salary next year and the same amount as his salary the year after.

They have to add a minimum of 5-6 mil anyways... hopefully Murray can convince him to spend.

Yeah but Bishop has been front and center a lot this year. A lot of teams in the East getting goooood, long looks. Philly for one.
