Gutsy effort, huge point.

One thing I'm sure everyone has noticed is how much winning faceoffs matter, especially important ones in the defensive zone and on the PP in the offensive zone. Montreal is amazing at always winning key draws and Bergeron and Krejci are on Boston as well - and that really changes the entire gameplan at times.

Second, Chara is still one of the best in the game, but I've seen him turn pucks over in important areas a lot more this year than I ever had. Don't get me wrong, he's still disgustingly good, but he's lost a tiny step IMO.

How sweet would it have been if Daug had used that stupid move to bring the puck in, then lifted it at the last second. Rask was covering the ice. Would have caught him off-guard.

He must feel like an idiot right now for trying something so ballsy and failing. Facepalm

Really? I don't think he does at all. He pulled a trick shot move and almost did it. Screw it, might as well change it up once in a while. I stress that for some reason Rask gave him daylight for a second, I couldn't believe he opened up the bottom of the net at all.

Thought it was pretty cool personally. No problem with it although I doubt we see him do it again.

How about we stop using Alfredsson in a shootout. Thanks.

Anyone else wonder why Mac didn't go to Latendresse at shooter four?

I can't believe the debate and reactions about one shootout move.
First call on the post game show was like "Ridiculous shootout move, direspectful to the Bruins bla bla bla" Who gives a flying Dung? Grow up.
No wonder SBP is a morgue if that's the kind of people going there.
It's entertainment, have fun for Diddle's sake.

Probably wanted to give Daug, a 4th liner who doesn't play much somewhat of a role to play(shoot outs). MacLean is all for ensuring everyone has a role.

That's dumb reasoning. "Hey, this guy doesn't get to do much, let's put him in the shootout!"

Obviously K-Daug is good in practice in the shootout, and was likely good in the AHL in the shootout. P-Mac wouldn't through him in there unless he had proven success.

I would have given K-Daug crap if the move had gone horribly awry, but it ALMOST worked. It's a good idea to try something goalies haven't seen before, and I credit Rask for being smart enough to take away the bottom part of the net. I had seen K-Daug use that move before, so as soon as he put his blade on the puck like that, I knew the spin-o-rama was coming...Rask might've too.

Maybe next time Latendresse gets a nod.

The Alfie has historically been our best or 2nd best (behind Spezza) shootout shooter, so you can't question using him.

Hopefully this opens the floodgates for Turris. Scored in regulation and in the SO... gotta get him going.

Daug... man, talk about a hero or goat move. He makes the goal, he's a hero. Sounds like PMac didn't know what was going on but had faith in him. Gotta like his creativity.

Meh, I'm indifferent about it all. Could care less about a shoot out. If they get the extra point great, if they don't too bad. Game was a tie and there's a stupid gimmick at the end so people can say they saw something note worthy. Good for Daugavins for trying it but like Edwards said "I can't believe there is an NHL point on the line". It's stupid. Not going anywhere though.

Not complaining about it either, I don't normally talk about the shoot out but since it's the topic of convo right now they whole thing is just moronic.

Yeah. I'm not a huge fan of the shootout. I'd like to see a longer OT or even go back to the days of play until you win. I'm sure the NHL is loving it though. They offered up the shootout "for the fans" and that certainly was entertaining last night. Everyone is talking about it today.

For sure I get it, it's meant to draw interest and it does. The fact I am talking about it shows it works in terms of drawing that attention and as long as it isn't negative attention it's good for the game.

I don't mind the shootout, and I don't really mind the loser point. I would be angry if we lost in a shootout and got zero points for it. As long as they keep the shootout in the regular season, and endless OT in the playoffs, I'm fine with the situation.

Yeah, doesn't bother me really. Just want that point for tying.

Getting a point after that kick in the nads against the Bruins, no less, is huge.

I didn't have a problem with Daug's move, but I do wonder why he was chosen so early. That move is better saved for later rounds when you are confident enough that your goalie will be able to stop the other guy. Besides, try latendresse before Daug at least....but Pmac has always had a 'i don't give a Diddle about the shootout' mentality, so there's something to appreciate there.

Also, LOL at anyone who says the move was 'disrespectful'. I mean...LMAO people are stupid.

Heh. Yeah, calling it disrespectful is pretty silly. The shootout is disrespectful in and of itself for crying out loud.
