In Bold, those who have played an NHL game already.

2008: Pretty much 5 NHL-ers with 1 superstar and 2 established players, and 2 pretty safe bets to contribute soon.
2009: 1 established top 4D, a (pretty much) calder candidate, arguably the best goalie prospect in the world and 3 playing in Bingo, one of them with a good chance to play this year.
2010: Just 4 (late) picks but 1 potential home run
2011 and 2012 are looking good but we'll wait a bit for evaluation. But 3 of them already in Bingo

Nothing short of amazing IMO. Probably best in the league bar none in the last 5 years.
Pierre Dorion should get a statue

I'm always worried some other team will poach him, there was ta;l Montreal was interested.

We used to have Jim Nill, Ray Shero and Trevor Timmins (among others) and now they're elsewhere.

yeah I think Pierre Dorion had a meeting with the Habs ownership but really he's an amazing head scout but is he GM material? this is as far as he can go up with an NHL organization if he's to stay in scouting. and I mean i bet he'd love to see his team take it all the way. maybe he's got higher aspirations but would he be good at them??? who knows. Trevor hasn't had the best track record as far as i'm concerned in MTL. they can keep him. maybe he's missing key components that he used to have but there's been a lot of picks made that i see as having character issues.
I do hope we keep Dorion. maybe he can move up to assistant GM when Tim takes over for Brian?

Trevor Timmins is very good, look at the 2007 draft for Montreal it was amazing. He's made some questionnable picks (Fischer) but I was told by a friend Habs fan that Pierre Gauthier made some picks despite his recommendation (Muckler anyone). I wouldn't be surprised if that were true, Gauthier is a Dumba 55

Could Dorion become asst GM when Tim Murray takes over after Bryan Murray retires? Which I hope won't happen for quite some time.

Speaking of muckler, isn't he working for Edmonton right now? It all become clear...
Drafting the Kostitsyn in my book was a very questionable move. Chipchura also comes to mind.

It's all but set in stone imo. If he wants to be an assistant that is.

The 2008 draft is what turned the franchise around, it's unheard of for a team to have 5, 6 players from the same draft all play in the NHL for the team that drafted them. Only time in history I can remember that is 1989 with the Red Wings

Mike Sillinger
Bob Boughner
Nicklas Lidstrom
Sergei Fedorov
Dallas Drake
Vladimir Konstantinov

Best draft in history for any team.

Apparently Gauthier traded McDonagh against Timmins' recommendation.

i thought i remembered them saying that they felt he wasn't progressing as they'd wished. then again that's what Gauthier said the scouting staff had said. boy were they wrong!

I wonder if 2011 will compete against '08. They got a lot of talent in that draft. ZBad, Noesen, Puempel, Prince, Claesson, and Pageau is a pretty impressive haul.

It's a bit different IMO just because they had more draft pics and moved out pieces to get those draft picks like Fisher, Kelly, ect. 2008 was just great scouting coming off a relatively good year. 2011 will be important though, no question.
