You'd be right if you didn't admit yourself that Zibanejad has a lot of value, something Lee never had.

Also, having a player drafted in the 1st round that has 4 years NHL experience is slightly better than an undrafted player.

Wait, so you are saying that a 2012 1st round pick (15 overall) + Mika Zibanejad (5th voerall in 2011) + Ben Bishop (equivalent of a 2nd round pick) is not enough?

But the same thing for Kessel is too much?!?

Even if it was Foligno + MZ + Bishop, that is basically two 1sts and a 2nd as well.

Even though it kind of does work like that in this case, you can't value guys to where they were drafted in the past. 15th + Brian Lee + Jim O'Brien doesn't mean you're dealing three 1sts.

Barker, Filatov, Hickey, and Esposito for Columbus's 1st. Four for one! Sarcasm

Well Howson has pretty much until the draft starts to do something because every minute he wastes once the draft starts is one lower pick he has a chance of getting. The 15th will get Columbus Malcolm Subban, who they can develop for a few years while they run with Bishop and Mason. Plus they will have their 2nd overall pick.

I love how everybody (who I'm reading on twitter and such) thinks that trades are all about points. Saying don't trade for Nash because our side will get more points than Nash? This isn't my keeper league here, it's the NHL you dimwits! Even though I think he underachieves, it's not all about points for Nash. He's improve the team defensively as well.

Funny thing is, this actually benefits my argument. I'm advocating trading prospects when their value is high (because of their pre-NHL success) before they get to the NHL and are exposed (like many former top 10 picks like you conveniently pointed out for me).

So you can say that had an NHL GM proposed a trade involving the picks used to take those players, or traded those players before they were busts, then it would have been a good trade if they got Rick Nash out of it.

So you would mostly likely trade all those players right now fro Nash, but you wouldn't have traded the 3rd overall pick in 2004 + the 4th overall in 2007 + the 20th overall in 2007 + the 6th overall in 2008 for Nash would you?

Apparently him and Jake Gardiner have been speaking on the phone about playing on the same team together.

If it's the players talking I don't think you can call that tampering.. Can you?

Yes, nobody can try to convince, lure or whatever any player under contract or that belongs to a team to leave that team.

Will he, though? I didn't think Nash excelled at the 200' game. Would Penner plus Hjalmarsson be a net positive over Nash+Borowiecki?

Sens aren't restricted from adding a d-man on top of Nash.

This Ottawa Sun commenter gets it:

Here 's the deal - Nash for Foligno, Bulter, Jim O'Brien, Weircoch . No picks this is more than enough. Bishop and Lehner are untouchables on this team.

lol

According to one former NHL G.M., he thinks Zibanejad + Lehner + 15th might be enough to get it done.

Yes it is. He hopes OTT gets him too.

Seriously, no team will pay as much as OTT can, and if that offer isn't enough for CLB, they won't be trading him.

I said I'm passing if I'm Ottawa, not if I'm Columbus.

Really doubt they're seriously in on Nash.
