Some interesting developments. Finland upset the USA 4-1. All those towering defensemen could not keep up with the small but quick Finnish forwards. Sweden had 53 shots on Swiss goalie Meili but had to settle for a shootout win, 4-3. Zibanejad had no points but 12 shots on goal. 12 freaking shots on goal!

Canada and Russia, for now, are the only "perfect" teams with two regulation wins each. Both have only given up 1 goal but Canada has more than doubled the Russians in goals scored (13 to 6). It's also fair to say that Canada has faced better competition (Finland and Czech Republic, versus Switzerland and Slovakia).

Great game last night. Man that Czech 'tender was on. Once Canada got some goals, the flood gates opened...

So, who starts in net next?

That little celebration after stopping the penalty shot gave us a bit of motivation, I think. Stone is a shooter so I don't know why he tried a "move". In the end it was a fairly routine save, certainly could have toned down the celebration.

As to who plays goal, I think Hay goes back to Visentin. He's the senior guy and played well against the Finns -- and I'd say the Finns are stronger that the Czechs this year (and the two play the early Saturday game -- it will be over before Canada-USA starts). It's tough for Wedgewood after getting a shutout, but I think that's what will happen.

It doesn't matter who plays the NEXT game. Denmark blows. I'd say the goalie playing Denmark isn't their guy.

"Coach Don Hay hinted Mark Visentin might start tomorrow night against Denmark, simply because of the rest factor, but Wedgewood has been the better of the two and has earned at least one more start."
