Hey, when did Scotiabank Place get renamed to "Scotiabank Centre"? I assume this happened, because our friend Denis Potvin called it "Scotiabank Centre."

Also, he referred to Karlsson as Eriksson, but that's just combining a first and last name…anyone could make that mistake…right?

That was a great game, we haven't had a 3rd period comeback in a while.

Nice to see Alfie still has something in the tank.

In one of the broadcasts they talked about how the senators lead the league in terms of missed shots.

I thought I heard they're 4th in the league in missed shots.

I think they're being too cute and trying to pick corners etc.

I've been saying so for months.

That's not the first time Potvin has called Karlsson -- Eriksson. Potvin is the worst... anybody else would be better.

something's gotta be said about Zach S. he's having no problem filling kelly's shoes on the third line and then some. he's gonna be looking for quite the raise when his turn comes around at a new contract if he keeps at it.

Now some are probably gonna try and make the point someday that he should get a shot at a top 6 position but I want to make the opposite point for him. he's our perfect 3rd line center. great defensively and can score. any contending team needs a thrid line center that can do both thos things as well as he's being doing them. I just hope it stays that way.

I'm cool with giving Smith a raise. I'd probably be willing to give him as much as 2.2-2.5. I doubt it comes to that, but he's a guy you want on your team for so many reasons.

if he can keep it up. I just hope it doesn't translate in unreal expectations and positioning him into a place he won't fit. again, i find he's perfect and I mean PERFECT for that 3rd line C role.

He stays on the 3rd line, Dave Bolland style. Nothing more, nothing less. 30-40 ish point guy, physical, shutdown man, PK. No need for unreal expectations.

Pretty much. It's the ideal spot for him and he's getting a lot of ice time in different roles.

Smith is a 3rd line center. Period. He's literally a perfect 3rd line center. You fill the 2nd line center role based off of every other role being filled up the middle. I like Winchester on the 4th line as well but that is a spot that will be up for grabs as time goes on. Gotta out play Winchester first though.

Well, Chris Kelly is filling Chris Kelly's shoes to overflowing, too. He's two goals up on Smith Sarcasm

Kelly is +17 on a +36 team
Smith is + 5 on a -8 team

Smith > Kelly

If we get some top 6 luck with Sillfverberg and/or Zibanejad - or anyone for that matter, we'll be a crazy fun team to watch. Hopefully as hard-working as this with some excellent skill as well.

Hey, I was the one driving the "Kelly can be replaced" bus.

Seriously, though, I was the one saying Kelly could get John Madden money way back when, and I *was* saying Kelly could be replaced on the defensive side *with* a little more offensive upside to boot. I liked Kelly, I like Smith, too. But I'm still not going to sell my soul for him. Good player to have on the team, but not the be-all and end-all. He will have slumps just like the rest of them. Enjoy this run.
