No, I totally expect that type of comment from NEELY. He can't argue civilly so he resorts to childish insults.

Smile

I take it as a victory.

Only players I consider worthy of trading the #1 overall for would be:

Doughty, Karlsson, Pietrangelo, Myers, maybe Bogosian, Erik Johnson (?)... you get the idea. Would have to be an impact player, young, with huge upside.

The problem is, nobody wants to give that up.

No, I basically just call it like I see it and in this case how everyone who has a pulse see's it.

The fact you can't see beyond on your own ignorance is telling and honestly it's actually pretty funny. You're reasoning for UFA"s to go to Edmonton "well, well, well I would because they have great young talent, who cares about the other 95% of my life", lol. If that's victory I'll be happy to be known as the loser here, lol.

To be fair, you have resorted to both insults and condescension, here and in other threads, recently. Not that, I agree, that excuses that behavior from anyone, yourself included, but let's be honest here.

Buuuuuuut back to real life where Dash doesn't seem to have a clue.

By the way, it's ironic that you criticize me for lacking a clue, when your solution is to trade the pick in some fantasy trade where a team magically gives up a franchise defenceman.

Fire with fire? Sometimes I resort to his level, which is below me, so you are right. I should be the bigger man.

But he is clearly dismissing my ideas and blinded by rage that he can't see the validity of my comments.

By saying they need to trade an asset (#1 pick in this case) to get a ton of help on the blueline or in goal. Yah, if that's fantasy I can see why the Oilers drafting 1st every year is reality.

Who cares to what degree the Oilers are Cussed. Let's talk about how awesome playoff hockey...a discussion that does not involve the Oilers at all.

Still didn't deny the absurdity of the idea that either they would trade for or a team would give up a franchise defenceman worthy enough of Edmonton parting with that pick.

So until it happens, this is all speculation and rumor mongering.

Laugh1 Laughing3 Precisely. Seems a little silly to even care about the Cussing draft when the mighty Senatores are beginning their Cup run... TONIGHT!!!! Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

Well if you were fighting fire with fire then you should probably learn how to light a match. I'm guessing you're the kid that pushed out of his seat when some dude walked by that thought you were a scrub. I was never the kid pushing the person out of the seat but I never cared either.

I think that's one scenario (for the record, I think any of those last three on your list could be had for the right price, and that that 1st would probably be it). Another would be moving downward in the draft, getting a good young D from one of the other top 5 teams, and then snagging another D with that other team's pick -- i.e., coming out of the draft with two young, potentially elite D.

TOR's pick + Gardiner / Schenn
NYI's pick + Hamonic / De Haan

Etc., etc.

I'm just spitballing here. I'm sure there are other, better potential fits out there.

Who created a rumor? People said Edmonton needs to fix things fast and has the #1 pick on top of everything else to do it now. Call it speculation or w/e else, they will be the most talented team in the NHL to not have a shot in hell at winning. Awesome.

You can start the annual "what forward will Edmonton pick this 1st overall this year" thread. I wonder if McKinna would look good in Orange and Blue?

Seems like massive overpayment to me though. With the 5th overall pick, Burke is going to get a fine player, can't see him giving all that up for one guy.

Also, who said anything about trading the 1st rounder outright? Most of this was based on flipping the pick with someone in the top 5. It took Quebec trading Lindros for "lesser players" to actually turn the corner and oh yah, they won 2 cups.

Philly as of yet has not since that happened.

Yah, those 5th overalls are game changers. Nothing like drafting #5 to turn the fortunes of your franchise around.
