I voted to do it hands down, but I reserve the judgement to wait and see how Gerber makes out. This trade wouldn't screw up Elliott in any way I don't think.

I am hesitant on trading our picks until the new year when we'll have a bit better idea of where they will end up. If we traded them away now and they became a top 10 I wouldn't be too happy. If we waited until January/February and they became top 10's then they increase in value.

I wouldn't mind this one at all, but to be honest I'm really tired of talkign about Ottawa's goalies.

I really don't know Backstrom enough, but from what your offering i'd think he must be pretty good...

Anything to get rid of Gerber... Anything... LOL

That's actually a pretty reasonable trade proposal, assuming that Minny does indeed plan on moving on to Harding as their #1 sometime in the very near future. Obviously, whether or not they'd be willing to move Backstrom turns on their plans for him and Harding long-term.

As long as it SJ's 1st, I'd do it. Nikulin wants out, Backstrom is an upgrade on Gerber for sure, and that SJ first is going to be a #24-30 pick. I can give those things up for a real 'tender, provided that some kind of short extension would follow shortly after.

I'm not sure if it would work now, but it's a deal to keep on the backburner come January/February. If Minny is forced to move Gaborik and so are forced to go into total rebuilding mode, they may well want to move Backstrom and hand things over to Harding.

No! LOL I may be the biggest of Gerber's critics, I really can't stand him as our goalie, nothing personally just can't stand him in our net... LOL

I'm not sold on Backstrom quite yet. He plays for a team that has always been very defensively solid, which is a huge boost for him, and more importantly, in his short career so far he is demonstrating that he may have "Havlatitis".

Plus if Elliot really is the goalie of the future why the need to bring Backstrom in? Especially at that price. Much too high for a short term acquisition in my opinion.
