7-4-1 to start the year. Sens actually have it very easy to start which is a good thing, might be able to gain some confidence right off the bat. If they can even pull one out in Detroit I think they may very well be in the division lead coming out of October.

Really lucky they have so many home games against teams on the same level for the most part.

The one positive with Detroit is that MacLean is very familiar with their system, problem is we don't have anywhere near the same caliber players to pull it off. Anything can happen though...

Ridiculous thread of the year award. Why not just predict the whole season before it's begun?

Monthly predictions change based on the playing trend of the team so it makes no sense to predict the entire season. Also we get to see who really observes and adapts their predictions based on actual gameplay.

I will say that we stand to lose the following:

Wings, Leafs, Wild, Caps, Flyers, Jets, Jackets, Canes, Rangers and Leafs.

Though Florida's got a really deep team, but I only question their goaltending, but with the defence they have, that may not be a huge issue. I think we can split the Leafs series.

I'll say going 3 and 9 is about right (lumping all the losses into one, not differentiating between OTL and SOL.) Columbus has had the Sens number on occasion, and it is a very tough call which way this one will go. It's possible that they could go 4-8.

You really have to think that any team that is considered a playoff contender is a guaranteed loss for the Sens. If the Sens can beat a contender, then by logic, they are a contender, which I do not think they wil be. Otherwise the rebuild/retool was short lived.

You've completely forgotten about Anderson, though. We beat the Bruins twice. Pre-season, yes, but the second game was against their full roster, while missing some important pieces on D. Point is, on paper -- and on the ice -- we had no right to be in that game, but we ended up winning it. That *will* happen a few times this season. Of the 10 guaranteed losses in October only two (arguably only two) games fall under that category -- we will win one of those. Of the remaining 7 (8) you know Anderson can be the difference between a close loss and a win another 2-3 times, if not more.

True, Anderson is a difference maker, but to think he will win us every game is unreasonable.

With the parity in the league, every team is in every game. If what you said above were true, why bother with an 82 game schedule? If the better team wins every time, why not just have a round robin tournament instead of a regular season? In fact, why bother with a 7-game series playoff structure? They should just have an elimination tournament. Winner stays on until the cup is decided.

The better team does win though. There's a reason Ottawa didn't go to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals this past year, as did many other teams. The two best teams did though, and Boston won.

There are obviously instances of upsets, but realistically, a team not considered a contender, in the midst of a rebuild or retool isn't going to beat a playoff contender 4 out of 7 times.
