Fine with me, I'll take Huberdeau. Assuming 2 defensemen get drafted before him.

Why do you say that?
Strome's a Burke-type player... physical, gets dirty... I think he'd view Couturier as "too soft" for his likes...

Is he?

Not really, no.

Maybe 'ol Shabbers is referring to Landeskog? Or is pulling an SSF?
Nope, just comparing Strome vs Couturier in that one area.

I'll be happy with either of those 2, I still have my reservations about Couturier. Strome would be my first choice though has he has seemed to pick his game up going through the playoffs and into tougher games.

I think NJ will be drafting a D man as well.

Strome is also younger than every player expected to go in the top 10 I believe.

everyone thought the CBJ would pick a blue-liner last year since they lacked in that department... what happened? you know the story.
I'm not gonna say any team is gonna pick anybody. We always say we should pick the best available player well I'm sure most team fell the same way.

Yeah Strome is the youngest one of the bunch and probably wouldn't play with the sens for another 2 seasons at least. But I think he's gonna be the one picked now that Da Costa is signed as well. There isn't that urgency to get in a bonafide 2nd line center since the team is retooling, and at the same time gives Regin or more importantly DaCosta a chance to prove their worth in the upcoming season.

He says the Sens have expressed a ton of love for Strome this season. When was this? I rarely hear them talk about any specific player (only time I did was last night when BM was gushing over Landeskog.

oh and he thinks Couturier will go 1st overall

The Strome love rings a bell for me too. Damned if I can recall exactly where I read it though.

I wish it went down like this, but I would bet good $$ the Sens go out and acquire a 2nd line C from somewhere - either UFA (which I don't see many of) or via trade. Either way, I've heard it too many times now, it sounds like Murray wants an 'experienced scorer for the top 6', which as I recall the panels were laughing about because doesn't everyone?

If I had a guess, it would be between Leino, Tanguay and Laich - and who even knows which of these guy will be re-signed before they hit UFA - or choose a different, closer to a Cup team.

Nathan Beaulieu is rising as fast as anyone has recently. Perhaps he's one of the 'surprise' top 5 picks?

If he indeed drafts a center, I would think then he targets a winger for the top 6. I don't think Murray would actually commit to a 2nd line center when he signs a highly touted college center and potentially drafts a first/second line center in the making. Just my opinion though.

Although, I still maintain some unrealistic hope since Brad Richards can play both center and wing Rockon

If we draft Couturier and Nick Jensen and call it a day, then all is good. TwoThumbsUp!

Yep,

Landeskog is almost a full year older Huberdeau and RNH are only a couple of months older. I think Ottawa could entice Florida to trade down to 6th if Ottawa really wants Landeskog, but for me I think Strome has a higher upside. I could be wrong, but from everything I've read about Strome and Landeskog the difference is do you want more scoring (strome) or more responsible play in both ends of the ice. (Landeskog). Well that and one is a winger other is a center.

I'd still take Strome in a heartbeat...I'm crazy like that, but I still think that Gryba is our top D-man down in Bingo. Strome has so much offensive talent that if that's what you want from a player then I think he's easily our choice. Couturier is interesting. I wonder how much of his decline is much like Tavares. We've been looking at him for so long, people are starting to find minor issues with his game and making them out to be big ones. He's great in faceoffs, skating is good, offense is great and his defensive zone awareness is great. Any other issues that exist can be corrected. Plus my father always said, you can't teach size.

it doesn't matter, Ottawa fans will always find a way to complain. As grampa simpson so aptly put it:

Nah, I leave him alone. His constant humping of Strome's leg is pathetic enough.

Murray thinks moving up to #3 might be possible. Panthers are #3

We could have had RNH, Prince AND Zibanejad. Now we're gonna end up, if that happens, with probably Landeskog only.
Diddle this Dung. I am Cussing frustrated. Sign me up for Yakupov/Galchenyuk. WIth our luck we probably will lose the one we pick to the KHL.

Yeah, and I could have been the pope.

I don't even get the point of this post. At one point with 10 games left approximatively we were 2nd last, Nashville was 12th last and then we had the 32nd pick too.

Did you honestly believe those spots were going to hold up?

Naw, Central Scouting is just challenged. EJ had some tools working for him.

I've seen his name in the top 6-10 more than once now, are you sure?

I'm just saying there's no way he goes 5th...before Couturier, Strome, Murphy. No way!
