Reminds me of that South Beach Diet back in the day when everyone was going low carb, high protein... not sure how good that is long term.

Thinking of doing it but I lift 6 days a week, I might pass out or something.

Ev - you epileptic?

Ah, I see. It's a diet. For losing weight? Building muscle? Both?
Best of luck.
Just cutting fat right now - it's pretty tough to do both at the same time. I'll stop and build muscle soon.
It's not bad so far...bacon every day is great. Wendy's baconator is unreal.
Are you tracking your sodium and/or cholesterol intake?

Sounds about right, way too much sugar and carbs in the NA diet.

Not tracking the specific amount personally but you actually want a lot of sodium in this diet as a main electrolyte source. You can eat whatever you want as long as it's no-low carb.

I could be wrong but I think the south beach was low-fat still, which is dumb if you're gonna go low carb

Need a proper electrolyte balance, can't neglect calcium and potassium. Sodium is easy to get since they put a ton of it in everything. Too much sodium is bad(like anything else).
I'm working on getting enough potassium in, I didn't eat enough foods with a lot of it before.Ev wrote:

Low-carb is the way to go unless you're an athlete and burn a lot of calories each day. You might be right about south beach but low carb+low fat = dumb.
During the induction phase of a Ketogenic Diet, most people experience a horrid “flu” that often makes people believe from the start that it isn't right for our bodies. Consider it the first test in one of your many trials to come. The flu is a manifestation of your mental and physical dependence on carbohydrates and the body is essentially going through a phase where it has to learn to use fat as fuel.
Keto flu can be treated by replenishing your electrolytes.
The flu-like symptoms should dissipate in a few days or weeks. But be warned: For as long as you eat low-carb, if you don’t take care to get enough sodium, potassium and magnesium (a.k.a. electrolytes) in your diet, you may experience fatigue, muscle twitching, headaches, muscle cramping, and in severe cases, arrhythmia. Leg cramps may be the most common sign that your electrolytes are out of balance.Even if you go out of your way to eat lots of table salt and foods containing potassium and magnesium, you may find you need to take supplements.
The minimum daily intake for the three electrolytes is given by Lyle McDonald as:
5000 mg of sodium chloride (salt)
1000 mg of potassium, in the form of potassium chloride or potassium sulfate
300 mg of magnesium, in the form of magnesium citrate - do not take magnesium oxide as it is worthless.

Seriously? C'mon now... that just reads like one of those "magnetic bracelet" charlatan garbage. Heh heh.
