Thanks for the warning - I saw the WW variety and I was hesitant and now you have just confirmed my thoughts. Was the 3-cheese the Smart pasta? When I bought my KD yesterday at Food Basics they had the KD smart brands for 4/5$.

The pasta with the 3-cheese KD wasn't the typical Macaroni...it was more like shells. I don't know what "Smart" pasta is, and I didn't see that printed on the box.

KD is on sale right now at Shopper's for $1/box. I cleaned out the big one on Eagleson on Monday.

Smart Pasta is made with whole wheat. It's like Smart bread which is white bread made with whole wheat. You can tell the difference but it's better than eating regular whole wheat. I personally notice little difference when toasted or used to make Grilled cheese.

I'm stunned how popular this thread has become.

Any discussion about food interests me. It's one of life's greatest pleasures.

I find it a great place to talk with a relatively low chance of causing a stir. Also helps give me some ideas on what to have for lunch. Smile

LOL Cap, I wasn't suggesting KD is healthy/good for you... but I think it has more nutritional value than french fries.

The Smart brand I had as pointed out by Clutch was the Cauliflower one. Tasted the same to me (doused with Ketchup though anything would taste the same, right?). I also found that there was less pasta in the box.

Here's another topic to debate: KD... Stovetop or Microwave? I typically microwave for the time factor.

Tim, I saw the shell type pasta and the spiral ones too, I stuck to the usual.

Oh, can we talk about drinks?

Ever since I had Vanilla Coke from Jack Astors year and years ago (before Coke started the short lived bottled/canned version), I had loved that drink. So I buy the Torani Vanilla Syrup from place like Second Cup and put a shot of that in with my coke. So good.

And Chocolate Milk, Root Beer, and Vernor's Ginger ale.

I also used to like Tahiti Treat as a kid.

KD must be done on the stove top. It produces superior results. If time is a factor though, the microwave version of KD is edible.

For drinks, Vanilla Coke is actually pretty good. I actually tried adding Vanilla vodka to Coke a few weeks before official Vanilla Coke was released. Delicious. I recommend it to anybody. Same flavour as Vanilla Coke, but you get the added benefit of booze!

As for other drinks, I usually try to steer clear of pop nowadays. Chocolate milk is awesome, and I am a fan of root beer (and root beer floats).

Tahiti treat was DELICIOUS.

Agree with the stove top. Pasta in the microwave? Sacrilege.

Vanilla Coke Slurpees from 7-11 were awesome in the summer. Wish they'd bring them back.

You're bringing up memories of a place I used to frequent at my old work location. The breakfast Burrito with HP sauce was awesome. I had one every Friday morning without fail. That place has since closed. Sad days for sure.

Not sure. The Gene does have long reaching tentacles so it's possible I guess.

So I guess no to microwaving my KD? Sarcasm Another advantage I find is you can walk away and not have to worry about burning pasta and the constant stirring.

Those chocolate bar milkshakes Cap mentioned were good. I remember when they came in the 500mL cartons.

I think I heard that there's some places that still sell Tahiti Treat. I must look into that, but I also hear it is easy to re-create using other drinks.

Heh. I guess... but still, it's only 15 min total time max for Mac 'n Cheese...
