3 more years, per TSN ticker. No other details yet.

"Sources say it is worth an average of $2.925 million per year but will pay him $4 million in the upcoming season."

Good deal.

And the Leafs are quietly rubbing their hands as they see one more competitor for the Tavares sweepstakes suddenly get a little better.

My team for Dobber's entry-level league just got a whole lot better too... O'Sully's contract status caused him to fall in the draft and I picked him up on the cheap. Smile

If those above numbers are correct ($3 mil / 3 years), LA just got a pretty good deal, although I'm sure they wanted him locked up for longer than that. Still, the guy has PPG potential written all over him...

Not that this was any surprise... just a matter of time and working it out.

Wow. I'm really surprised at the dollar amount (excellent) and the term (poor). They better hope this kid doesn't explode the way some think he can or they'll be trading him in year 3 of this year.

Still...can't complain about the package at all. I've been complaining about over-paying for potential - and the Kings aren't really doing that. They're paying a big price for this guy, but sadly it's below market value.

The term is what could potentially set up 'the second contract' for a lot of these guys - which I think is interesting. If he explodes it kinda sets a ceiling for what guys coming off their first contract will make. 3 X 3 is pretty good for both sides assuming the cap remains the same.

O'Sully wanted a short-term deal (1 year), LA a long one (3 years minimum). Management won out -- but I'm sure they would have loved to strike a deal like the Dustin Brown one.

Kopitar's up next. I wonder if he's buying what management is selling?

This kid could screw up their ability to hold onto the D that they are building - he is worth a ton.

I would think so, cool city, big money. I assume they would go to him with a minimum of 7 X 7, so he'll be quite well compensated. From the very little I've read about him, it sounds like he's fairly mature and actually wants to win, so there might be a chance that he sees the potential that the Kings have.

Good question though. I'm curious to see how it plays out.
