He hasn't been around in awhile sadly.

IIRC, his last post was a huge post on the sad state of affairs with regards to the Sens.

I know he still posts at HFBoards though.

I've never been to HFBoards. How is it?

Way better than HB/TSN comments/Senschirp comments, though that in itself doesn't say much.

Over-all, there are a lot of excellent posters and there's a tonne of knowledge about prospects. And a lot of over-rating prospects.

As far as the Sens board, there's a group that constantly harps on Murray, which gets aggravating even if there's a ring of truth to what they say, then there's a group that still argues Spezza is like a top-3 centre, then there's the group that over-rates all our prospects, then there's the group whose only focus is the scouting and acquisition of big players, then there are just straight-up trolls, etc. But it's such a huge poster-base that it's to be expected and there are a number of knowledgeable/great posters mixed in.

EDIT: Also there's a Bruins fan (I think) with over something like 70,000 posts and a Flyers fan at around that number IIRC.

Has anyone ever frequented or checked out Sensnation or Sensnetwork?

I haven't. The only Snes website I've posted on apart from what I listed (well, Sportsnet too) is HTR. Laugh1

Thanks. Worth a look I suppose. I still prefer this group over any of the ones I've seen (the tsn muppets, SC, and HB), but I'll have a look anyhow.

70,000 posts? Get a job. Seriously. Laugh1

What's HTR? I used to post on Sportsnet long ago too. I used to check out Sensnation and Sensnetwork long ago but when I got the invite from SpezzD on HB i've never really looked back. This is the best forum imho.

There are pretty good posters on HF, but like Asq2 said, too many posters so you get a pot pourri of all kinds of stuff. I gotta say the Murray haters are definitely annoying.

By real he means not free web based where you can create hundreds, thousands, heck as many as you like and create as many new member handles as you like.

I've had my @aim e-mail account ever since it was an @netscape account. In that time my work e-mail has changed at least 5 times (once while still @newbridge.com -- they went from userid@newbridge.com to first.last@newbridge.com, then when we became @alcatel.com, then @alcatel-lucent.com, then my stint with the Feds, and now my latest job). That, plus the fact that I don't want to receive "New private message has arrived" messages on my work account.

Anyhow, that's my 5-cents' worth.

You can disable that in your profile if you don't want those new PM messages coming to your email but I see where you're coming from.

SpezDispenser wrote:Right now, we have to treat this as seriously as possible.

We had an issue with a former member named Notch, several posters on here had bad experiences with him until we finally banned him. Then he reappeared under a different name, so we banned him once we caught wind it was him. And over and over and over, causing issues with posters and finally attacking our site, screwing up the PM feature for quite some time IIRC.

After dealing with him, we have a crew of watchdogs that look for his IP that we traced towards the end of his tenure here.

That IP address recently popped up again with CockRoche and Straight Shooter. We gather the odds of this being a coincidence are rather slim, so despite some of us really liking CR, we felt it had to be done for the good of the site.

The reason for sponsorship + real e-mails is to prevent it from happening again while we figure out what the best way to do things are. I assume it will end up being sponsored members for a long, long time unfortunately, but I hope I'm wrong. A friend of one of the posters here is sponsored by the poster, we admit him and so on and so on. Right now, I don't see a different way to go about it, and neither did any of the Admins.

We will work so we can attract more people, I'm not sure how yet, but I assume we'll end up being fine. I appreciate the posters who come here very much and maintain that this is THE place to chat about the Sens without prejudice. Hopefully the posters agree with that as we work to slowly figure out some of the security features that might need to be added along the way.

It should be noted that the IP address was only one part of a mounting case and put the final nail in the coffin so to speak. You can read more on it here http://www.gmhockey.com/t5208-the-long-investigation-that-led-to-the-new-sponsorship-rules#225051

I applaud the site's owners and mods for their efforts in clamping down on these types of detrimental activities. I would also like to caution them on stifling potential new growth of this site by making it difficult for new members to join and contribute. Tread carefully.

For sure. This a difficult situation and one that would be more easily dealt with if we had better tools to work with.
