He had one great season, IIRC, then kind of fell off the map. Kind of like Weezer, he peaked early then trailed off.

Pretty sure he had a pretty serious shoulder injury.

Clouston today all but blamed bad goaltending for this bad season, his office walls are probably lined with Craig Anderson posters.

Having a goalie who can make key saves, hold on to a lead, lets the team play with more confidence and lets the team actually play 'their game' more, as they've kind of gotten away from what made they successful before.

Or maybe he's just trying to get a job next year.

Clouston coming back is the absolute worst thing that could happen.

Per Mendes: Svatos will make his Sens debut Friday in Buffalo. Look for him to play wing on a line with Foligno and Shannon to start.

We've got $37M locked up next year for 14 players. I don't know how the B-town players that will move up to the NHL factor into those numbers though. What I do know is that Murray has some work to do regarding the RFAs and UFAs this summer. Butler, Greening, Condra, Svatos, Shannon, Smith, Lessard, Phillips, Campoli, Anderson, Wick, Hale, Brodeur, Kinrade, Benoit, Derek Smith, Daugavins, Keller, Bailey, Bass are all FAs of one kind or another. I left Glasscal off the list for obvious reasons, but that's like 20 players that he has to deal with. Some will walk for sure (Bailey comes to mind), but many of those players will need a new contract. I don't envy the workload that BM (or his replacement) has this summer.

That's precisely why I'd love it if we take an expiring pending UFA contract off someone's hands in exchange for Kuba. I think that getting his $3.7M off the books next year is a fair return. No pick; no prospect. Just take him away please.

EDIT: Just realized that I didn't mention that I see trading Kuba as the only way to prevent another buy-out.

Those buyouts will come off our cap just at the time Erik Karlsson will be due for a hefty raise on his next contract.

I love this "free look" thing we have going. Elliott for Anderson and Svatos off waivers. Cost us nothing and we have a chance to improve the team. Hopefully both of them impress (as Anderson has so far) and we can get them signed to reasonable contracts.

Svatos hasn't impressed in a long time I am not counting on that.

That's the thing! It's a free opportunity. He doesn't have to impress. I just like that we're able to pick these guys up to take a look. He very well may be terrible. Who knows. He only put up 3 pts in 9 GP in Nashville, but maybe he's able to do more here. Maybe not. It doesn't matter. The point is that we're in a position to audition 2 guys for the rest of the season, plus all the call-ups. Exciting times.
