The only question now is who amongst those 3 teams will get the #3 and #4 spots. I think NYI will finish ahead of us (they have been playing decent hockey for some time) and get the #5, but the other two are up in the air. What we need is for OTT and FLA to have similar records -- winning, losing, .500, whatever -- to close things out. Given that Vokoun is playing as well as Anderson is, it seems possible to me. A loss in our final game against FLA would be nice, too, tho', that's for sure.

But if you ask me, we should be prepared to finish with the #3 or #4 pick. #3 would be fantastic of course, and #4 not so fantastic.

Regardless of what happens, tho', I'm 100% behind the decision to acquire Anderson. Trading for him says to him, 'we like you, we want to see if you can be part of the solution.' It's us getting a much-needed head start on the UFA period and working towards solving the problem. If Anderson backstops us to a #4 finish and walks, so be it: if that happens, it happens in spite of the fact that BM is doing everything he can to address our #1 need and to help create a winning culture for the kids to play in. If he signs, under just about any circumstances, it is all worth it, IMO.

All that said: start McElhinney tonight!

There's a last possibility: We win the lottery. MIght wanna start a petition to save some cash Sens fans, I heard Colin Campbell won't budge for anything under $1B (Cue Dr Evil)

#4 would be a fine pick too. Any of the Top 4 are good choices, and they could mvoe up if they really want a certain player.

Edmonton is obviosuly going to draft Larsson given to opportunity, same with Col I would think. Florida is going to lose Wiess is short order and would probably go for a guy like RNH. I think no matter the scenario except for one The Sens are going to be able to get Landeskog. That scneario being The Sens finish 4th and get bumped back to 5th.

Edmonton has been gushing about RNH as well from what I read...he's been profiled on their website a lot.

Probably means Larsson is #1 for them. I can't imagine any NHL team advertising which guy they're aiming to draft, if anything they'd be spreading red herrings.

Yeah, if Edmonton turns down Larsson given that they have the chance to draft him, they should be shot one by one. You have a potential franchise forward in Hall, they need a franchise D man. Building a team 101.

I think they pretty much tipped their hand that they were going for Hall last year.

Kinda like Tampa with their massive "where's Stamkos" campaign.

If you're a sure bet for #1 overall I'd agree.

Further down I can't imagine any team advertising their preference.

Sens never advertised their pick except for Daigle as I recall.

Seen Stamkos was after the lottery I think.

That's how I look at it, fact of the matter is there could be a lot of moving up and down the draft within the first 5 or 6 picks as the lists from team to team may vary a great deal.

I still don't think there is anyway Edmonton doesn't pick Larsson given that chance, same with The Avs.

Might be a little like the "Anyone know what a Stamkos is?" campaign.

After the lottery but before they made their pick.

That`s the point. It was confirmed they would get the 1st overall. Edmonton, not yet. So it's different.

Difference being, Edmonton can go ahead and start a "Anyone see where NPH is?" campaign now because no one in their right mind will pick the guy in the Top 2 which is where they know they're picking.

Whatever the outcome, I have 100% faith in Murray that he will get the player he wants and the player he believes will help The Sens the most going forward.
