IMO you need at least 3 or 4 Winchester, Smith or Shannon-type players. Their utility, roles and salary are a must as part of the equation that equals a winning formula.

Not Shannon, he's useless, and I don't care how much money he makes. All he has is speed, but speed's nothing if you don't use it to do something else.

I disagree. Able to play any role mid-game, at almost bare minumum salary, a bit of energy and that is good enough for me right there.

He is as versatile and cheap as they come; that in itself is valuable to any team.

I like Shannon.

We've had this Shannon discussion before you and I, but I'll say it again, that with Winchester and Smith most likely to be locks on this team next year, we can afford to let Shannon walk.

They are all signed for more money than Shannon currently; a lot more actually, if they were in the NHL.

Plus, Shannon is proven.

One of those guys can be the 4th player I was talking about IMO.
