If Ottawa can get a late 1st, even a couple of 2nds, they have some flexibility to trade up if they wish, or just draft depth players. You never know how that 2nd round pick or even later will turn out.

But why are we not seriously considering Regin, Shannon, Winchester. Is Winch really doing much of anything to help out? Smith should have his spot. Yes, I know it's a little harsh. And is there any way to send Regin back to the AHL for a year? I don't see why he deserves a spot in the roster over, say, Butler.

IMO you need at least 3 or 4 Winchester, Smith or Shannon-type players. Their utility, roles and salary are a must as part of the equation that equals a winning formula.

Not Shannon, he's useless, and I don't care how much money he makes. All he has is speed, but speed's nothing if you don't use it to do something else.

I disagree. Able to play any role mid-game, at almost bare minumum salary, a bit of energy and that is good enough for me right there.
He is as versatile and cheap as they come; that in itself is valuable to any team.
I like Shannon.
