I think it wasn't even 2 weeks ago that I said there's no way we could catch the Devils (a few others have said so as well). They're not only ahead of us, but they are making a case for the playoffs.

In their last 10 games the Devils are 7-1-2 while Carolina is 5-5. That means they've caught up by 6 points in 10 games. At that rate, they will be 10 points behind at the 63-game mark and only 4 points back with 9 games remaining.

Wouldn't that be something.

That would be something... they have to leap over 5 teams to make 8th... and they're 16 points out. Getcha popcorn ready...

wprager wrote:Too lazy to pick out any specific post to respond to, but this goes back to the discussion of who we move to make room. Fisher, for sure, is a possibility. But why are we not seriously considering Regin, Shannon, Winchester. Is Winch really doing much of anything to help out? Smith should have his spot. Yes, I know it's a little harsh. And is there any way to send Regin back to the AHL for a year? I don't see why he deserves a spot in the roster over, say, Butler.

I don't see any of those guys as untouchable, but...

Regin: young, cheap, showed lots of potential late last year (particularly in the playoffs). I could be talked into moving him, but he's not someone I'm itching to get rid of.

Shannon: cheap, hardworking, versatile, pending UFA. I could see not wanting to bring him back just because he's not skilled enough to be in the top 6 or big / gritty enough to be in the bottom 6. But I could also see bringing him back because he's so cheap, works so hard, can do spot duty in the top 6.

Winchester: versatile, cheap, good checker, physical, signed another year. While I could be talked into moving him, to me, he's one of about 3 guys on this team who still remembers how to hit -- and, on our butter-soft team, he brings a much-needed physical element.

Currently 2-1 Toronto vs. Isles. Isles goalie Poulin left the game due to injury apparently and went to the hospital.

I don't mind Shannon but it would be nice to see some of the guys from bingo get a shot, especially a guy like O'brien who's capable of scoring too. I do feel bad for Shannon cuz he tries zoo hard...

I know man, I really feel the same way. He works his arse off - and it just won't be good enough.

You really missed an opportunity there ... to post the reply twice.

Anyhow, so you're saying your post count has to do with a faulty mouse?

It is good enough for $600,000 though, no?

In terms of re-signing him? I would say yes absolutely, but I doubt the Sens organization does it - just because of the numbers game + if a spot opens up, they might want to give it to a younger prospect.

Ya, I'm not sure if they will re-sign him, I'm just saying players like him are needed on every team. I like having him in Ottawa.

Great team guy, the players like him too. He knows his role; even though he has so many of them.
