"Don't live a little, live a lotto"

The Ottawa Senators (17-23-7, 41 pts) visit the Philadelphia Flyers (30-11-5, 65 pts) Thursday night. Ottawa had another strong effort and was dominating the Ducks for long stretches on Thursday night at SBP. Was it the same old same old? Not entirely. Sure they couldn't score as usual but this was different. They were getting more quality chances, Butler looks like he "gets it", and the terrible turn-overs didn't cost them goals. I personally don't like using the hot goalie excuse but come on. This is a challenged offense up against one of the best goalies in the league if not THE best so I cut the Sens a little slack here. Don't get me wrong I think losing is the way to go right now but at least that game showed they care and that maybe they're not too far off from fixing this for next season or the season after.

Philly is on fire lately and will be getting Pronger back which makes this match-up even more unfair. It has all the makings of a game that could get ugly fast. Ottawa is out matched in every aspect in this game so buckle your seat belts because the tank bus is headed for some rough roads!

Pronger returns... Philly is tied for 1st overall in the NHL... 8-2 in their last 10... oddly enough, I think the Sens will get up for this game. Surely Elliott won't let it get to 10 losses in a row for him... surely?

Maybe the avoid the Elliott streak by inserting Mike Brodeur? Wink

Me either to be honest. If you're likely to lose anyway why put your number 1 goalie through that right? Mikey will just be happy to get a start so it make sense to me.

Bill Metzer is saying Brodeur is nursing an injury and Lehner could be called up.

Travis Yost, as far as I know, is just a regular guy like us. Not sure what the qualifications are for having a blog on Hockeybuzz (living with the shame?), but he is just another Joe-Blow Blogger as far as I'm concerned.

I still read his blog occasionally, he is a half-decent writer.

Anyway, back on-topic, everything points towards a blowout tonight...which is probably why the Sens will win. We beat Pittsburgh on Boxing Day when there was no reason for that to happen.
