Changes need to be made to both management, coaching, and the players.

Who would you like to see fired/hired? Which players would you like to be moved? And who would you like to add this off-season?

Haha. I just went back and read your original post and it is safe to say that, yes, your thread has been hijacked.

Projections are not my cup of tea, but there is no use for Leclaire or Kovalev anymore. Get what you can for them because they will not be with us next season. Ruutu can help a playoff team as well.

I want Bryan Murray at the draft table, that is all I care about. I don't have a preference as to what capacity he is there, but I require him at the microphone stand in Minnesota.

Players that I wouldn't mind seeing in an Ottawa uniform for the 2011-2012 season include TJ Oshie; he would be a fan favorite after the home opener. Wishful thinking includes Andrew Ladd and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau. Joel Armia is the forward in want Murray to draft.

Hopefully this post will move this thread back on the tracks for you.

Yeah. Armia would be a good fit on this team. I wouldn't mind picking up Brandon Saad. The guy is already a monster; 6"2 200+ lb American from Pennsylvania. Depending on where we finish, it'll be between Armia and Saad for sure.

I'd also be okay with Pierre McGuire as the next GM. I know he's a 'love him or hate him' type of guy but he knows a ton about up and coming players, current players in the NHL, and he's still young enough to relate to the players on the team. He probably has a good rapport with other GMs around the league as well.

I'd like to see Craig Mactavish behind the bench. No real reason here, I just like the guy. He'd be good with the media and his experience would go a long way. He's still been around hockey in a capacity that's kept him up to date on things around the league. He would work well with McGuire also?

I'd really like to see the Sens make a serious run at Weber. He'd be the missing piece on defence and with Karlsson, Weber, Gonchar, and Phillips on defence, with Cowen and Kuba 5/6 next year we'd be pretty damn good defensively for a couple of years.

Sign Vokoun/Bryzgalov for two years and let Lehner develop properly.

Offense would be a bit of an issue but you'd build that through the draft this year and try to pick up a player or two via trade/call up.

Picking up guys like Bailey, Oshie, Bergfors, etc would also go a long way for this franchise.

I'd like to see a coach with a style and personality and an ability to give this team direction and identity all while still being a good tactician and motivator.

Not asking for much eh? Laughing3

I want to at least say I know Senators Hockey when I see it.

You can't see Senators hockey game in and game out? Floating, dump no chase, stick checks, and soft goals against.

Remember Oilers hockey? So fast, end to end, hits, nice goals. Oilers hockey is coming back around to where it used to be. Such an exciting game to watch.

According to this he is going to Colorado in the 2nd round.

When's the last time the Sens took a Finn in the draft? Janne Kolehmainen in 2005 -- the same year we drafted Zubov. The last Finn we drafted who actually played was Dahlman (22 games in the NHL and now officially retired).

He's ranked a lot higher in other mock drafts, some suggesting that he's the next Teemu Selanne. Wouldn't mind a Finnish Flash on the team.

Still, Saad is the way to go. At his size he's ready for the NHL. Just needs to develop his game and playing on North American ice definitely helps his cause right now.

Saad is doing pretty well. I just looked him up, and he's got 37 pts through 32 games with Saginaw. And they have him at 6'2" and 211.

How come he's not playing for the World Juniors though?

Apparently USA hockey favours players in their own system more than CHL players so maybe that's why they didn't give him a long look (he didn't score or produce in exhibition so that's probably why too).

I thought maybe it was that he played in the CHL, but they have Etem, Campbell, Bourque and Callahan, all of whom play in the CHL.

Maybe if you have a great camp or if you are a proven vet then they don't care about where you play? I dunno...maybe if Saad played for the US development team he might be on the team despite his poor camp.

I don't keep tabs on draft position to be honest, but I would be floored if Armia goes that low, I'm shocked right now actually.

He has top 10 talent IMO.

To provide a different perspective, this mock draft has him going 6th, which is also where the ISS has him ranked.

6th? And here I am thinking that Armia would slide under the radar because he was from Finland.

Anyway, at this rate, Ottawa will have a lottery pick so maybe Nugent-Hopkins or Couturier aren't pipe dreams after all.
