Imagine a defensive core of: Philips, Karlsson, Weber, Gonchar, Rundblad, and Cowen. We're 5 out of 6 pieces away...

I think Weber could be had for Fisher +
Maybe Spezza + Karlsson.

Nashville are notoriously cheap. Fisher + Cowen would probably either do it or be most of the offer that gets a deal done.

Cheap doesn't mean stupid.

Scotiabank needs a huge overhaul – Ottawa needs an identity.

- We need someone to organize the fans (the person in charge of this is failing miserably)
- We need our own cheers, chants and taunts
~ Nashville fans blow train whistles when Tootoo is on the ice
~ Northside/southside suck (who cares that it’s the roughrider chant – it’s unique to Ottawa)
~ Potvin sucks
~ Just give us something that is our own and that every fans knows/does
- Why don’t we try to emulate a European atmosphere – would take a few years but would get people into the game and will make some noise
- Try a couple of big screens in the rink showing other games, world series etc. This will bring in the Leaf and Hab fans perhaps when they aren’t playing Ottawa (slowly converting them to Sens fans). Maybe create more of a bar-like atmosphere.
- Give every grade 1-6 in Ottawa a Sens hat – this should have been done 15 years ago

Please just make a change to make us unique. If I’m going to drive out to Kanata – make it worth it. These are probably stupid ideas – but it has been bugging me for years.

I can't see them trading Weber.

Why not? Suter, Ellis, Franson, Roussell, Klein, Blum all in their system.

Plus, you think Nashville fans want to see Weber at $7 million a year or the husband of Carrie Underwood at $4.25 million. I think Fish will bring a lot of fans to the arena.

I get what you're saying but I think putting an exciting/winning product ON THE ICE should work wonders too.

i still think there's plenty of space for michalek on this team. but we should have the money to aquire a 1st line player this summer. who? not sure. semin?
these aren't exactly 1st line talent but could be band-aid solutions that are better then aging players like arnott: Hejduk, Fleischmann, Moulson maybe...

what i'm trying to say is more then likely we'll be facing a band-aid then being winners. let's just try and get the best band aids on the market out there.

Would you do this deal, if you were the GM of Ottawa or Edmonton.

To Edm: Spezza + Kuba

To Ott: Paajarvi, 1st round pick 2011 and Souray on re-entry.

I have no doubt Spezza would waive his NMC to play between Eberle and Hall.

Personnally, I'd do it from both sides.
No comments ? Really ?

good idea, but i fear ottawa fans in general area pretty tame and safe crowd.

edit: if you want the fans to get rowdy set up shot bars where they can do shooters. that should get it going. does wonders in montreal. people there are plastered.

Edmonton has no reason to trade any of their young guys at this point. They gain nothing by getting Spezza who won't waive his NTC to play in Edmonton of all places, anymore than Heatley would.
They're tanking now and they're gonna need that 1st rounder.

We don't need Souray here either.

With all their youth, the one thing they do not have is a #1 centre. Their best players and prospects are Hall, Eberle, Paajarvi, Hemsky, Penner, Brule. All wingers. Down the middle they have Horcroff, Gagner and Cogliano. They need a #1.

As for Souray, I'd prefer Souray at 2.7M over Kuba at 3.7M any day. Even if he's terrible he can shoot and play tough, two things Kuba will never have in his arsenal.

Why do you say Spezza wouldn't go to Edmonton, I'm pretty sure Heatley was going there until the Sharks called Heatley's agents and said they were interested.

I think Spezza's a big part of the rebuild, but if that offer was on the table, I'd probably think pretty seriously about it right now.

And not for MPS - who I'm not as high on as most - but for MPS AND the 1st round pick - which should be in the top 10 - or higher. Picks are gold right now, we need as many as possible, the higher the 1st rounders we can get, the quicker this team can have a re-birth IMO.

I also would have fired Murray a month ago, but now I'm convinced that it should be a 2 for 1 and Clouston should go too. I like him, but this is bad Dung.

So...clean out the team, make some of the guys waive their NTC, get young, get relevant again, change coaches, change management. Let's do it before it gets harder and harder to accomplish.

the future is still bright thanks to murray. this years product has a lot of underperforming players but the future is still bright starting on defense and then forward and then in goal.

It is, he did an amazing job. He still needs to be re-assigned to head of scouting and let someone with a fresh take come in and dissassemble what Murray did in terms of the old guard, lack of scoring talent, lack of skill, lack of leadership, lack of toughness in the top 6, lack of a proper shutdown D-man, lack of leadership, overpaid complimentary players (hello Fisher), declining players (hello Alfie, Phillips, Gonchar), unstable goaltending, poor coaching.

Interesting that you mention this twice.

Making sure people were paying attention, good job. Wink

This team's leadership is bottom 5 in the NHL IMO.
